I was playing golf last week and decided to take a four pack of Modern Times' Fortunate Islands out with me. I'm not sure I'm ever golfing with another beer again. What's your beer of choice for the links?

Something I can down in three gulps, I usually go with Yuengling. Two or three cans a round is enough to loosen me up enough without shanking it into my golf cart ten yards away.

Well, once again it's seasonal. Hot weather calls for, dare I say, quaffers- like Yuengling, All Day IPA, and if you're prudent and/or resilient Sierra Nevada (and of course, easy drinking Summer beers). Cooler weather is actually more fun, because one loads the cooler with a variety of richer, sometimes maltier German types (Spaten, Hacker Pschorr), but Sierra Nevada still fits beautifully- the list is endless. Cold weather golf- sorry Minnesota, etc.- calls for Smutty Robust Porter, Foothills Peoples Porter, and the ubiquitous Sierra Nevada, and maybe Torpedo and other bigger boys. Repeat Spring as Fall.

Sixpoint Resin....not refreshing by any means but I like Hop Bombs and its slender green can looks like nothing like a beer can....never been stopped yet.

Although, I do manage to sneak in cans of New England 668 Neighbor of the Beast.

I had two Harpoon Octoberfests the last time I went out. Aside from that being one of the biggest surprises of the year for me (didn't have high expectations and they were blown away), it was a great companion for my round. The time before that I had three Long Trail IPAs... all on the back 9. That was probably a little too much, but it went down really nicely.

Resin is my go to beer when I want to drink in public. It's awesome. 3 beans does the trick too. In your face local authorities.

Best question I've seen in a while. An important one at that. Having rarely played a round without beer, I've migrated a bit over the years. Way back, Bud light was the go to. Once bud light lime came out I was hooked for quite a while.....a beer that could get a little warm and be ok. Since becoming a beer snob, I mix it up quite a bit as I like variety. If it's a morning round I like to drink a big stout on the range, lately stone RIS or GD yeti. For the course I usually mix it up with a couple IPAs. My standbys seem to be hop stoopid, Union Jack, and hop valley centaur all of which are regularly available/on sale.

For golf trips I get a beer spreadsheet going. 1. To avoid over consuming 2. To try not to drink the same beer twice while on the courses. 3. Maximize cans vs bottles. I usually fail at 1.

With a plan like that, losing and winning is equal.
