Do you self-impose any limitations on how you drink beer?
If so, why and what is the limitation?

For instance: budgetary concerns, counting calories, or don't want to be a drunk?
Limit yourself to: One beer a day? One good beer a day? One expensive bomber per week?
    Only drink on the weekends?

I try to average $10 per week on beer over the course of the year, but I realistically spend closer to $20.

I try not to drink too much (maybe three beers on Sunday, during football, or a few with dinner on date night) because getting drunk destroys my sleep quality and makes me fat. Also, my fiancee would kill me if she knew how much money I spend on beer.

I made a modest goal of 100 days this year without beer. Enough time off to feel good about myself and enough time with beer to feel good about returning.

100 days straight? That's rough. I went almost a year without beer, although I did cheat a few days here and there, so I don't know how many days straight I made it.

I was trying to be Gluten Free. Eventually, it was beer that brought me back.

For me, I try to keep to 1 or 2 a night (12-16 oz) during the week and try to at least take 2 days off per week. I also try to mix in wine just for variety. Saturdays I tend to drink quite a few (4-5) and start in the afternoon.

I think taking it easy and taking nights off help me enjoy and appreciate the beer that much more.

And yes, money, not wanting to be drunk/hungover, and keeping my weight down are all major factors in my beer consumption. I'm 31 and married, not 22 and single.

I've always added the ABV of the beer I've had in a day, with bombers equaling two beers. My sweet spot is around 45, which is my limit before I get really stupid...

Every year, I take the "bru" out of February and forego alcohol for the month. March 1 has become my personal beer day, and it's a good one.

So, by your system, you drink ten 4.5 ABV beers in a day?

I like that... but I couldn't do it. I do too much skiing in February, and I appreciate a little apres

I try to stick to two beers per day because of calories. I will indulge sometimes, mostly saturday nights lately. But you really can't indulge often and expect not to see your pants get tight. I will stay within my monthly budget so I don't have a set amount for beer and will buy what I want to buy within the budget no matter if that's 2 six packs or 2 more expensive 750's.

Not every day...just a top limit.

I kind of treat it like coffee - I am only "supposed" to have one cup a day, so it better be a good one!

I don't drink in quantity anymore (thankfully - dangerous times), but every once in a while will re-visit the land of excess when cooking out, for instance. These days, I look forward to beer as a treat/reward, so I focus on enjoying beer and experiencing the beverage. If I can make a good food pairing, even better, but not essential. I don't know if that evolved intentionally or has just happened by itself. I don't have a beer every day and usually it is just one...well...I guess a 22 oz would count as almost two but it takes me hours to finish one. Hopefully my one beer is a good one...

I drink at home irregularly: maybe once a week some weeks, more or less other weeks. I will have a beer or two with dinner if there's something good on draft where I find myself. Again, this might be once or twice a week.

But there are the inevitable parties and events once or twice a month where I will have as many as six beers...

It probably averages out to one a day, I'm guesstimating.

For session beers I try to limit myself to 6 a night. For higher abv beers its 3 a night.

I enjoy beer a lot more when I limit myself. Generally, I take Mon/Tue off and will have one on Wed, off Thu then 1-2 on Fri/Sat/Sun. Rarely will I have 3 on a day unless they're low ABV or it's an "ocassion".

Mine are wife-imposed, and revolve around cost and consumption. Both being less than I'd like.
