    I impose a limit based on a formula using Calories/(IBU+OG) X (ABVx10)/hours of drinking

(with a maximum allowance of 3 hours per night.)

I make a point of not having a beer every day, so I usually drink 4 or 5 nights a week. I will drink 2 beers typically, occasionally more. I do this for budgetary reasons as well as not wanting to become a drunk.

I try to take off from consumption 3-4 days a week. A few times a year I try to take off at least a week to detox.

As a rule I drink only one beer a night, and only four to five nights out of the week. If I go out with friends, I may have two or three depending on the circumstances. If I go out with my kids, I seldom drink, I feel they should learn that you don't have to drink to have fun in social situations. Of course the rest of my time I'm abusing crystal meth, but, hey that's my time dammit!

I try for 2 servings of 10 oz of 10% or 3 of 12 of 8 or 4 of 16 of 6. I have no clue where I came up with those numbers.

2 beers most nights. 3 happens every now and then. Limited by the need to sleep.

For any who are worried about calories, I strongly recommend looking into the primal/paleo diets/workouts -- you'll never worry about your beer calories again if you approach eating/activity in this way. Happy to talk more in this area by BMs ..........

A total of 14 beers/'drink's (a 'drink' is equal to a 12oz serving of 5.5% beer) per week. That averages to 2 per day, which is the most my doctor says is healthy for me. I realize this is probably on the high end for many people, but in grad school we used to drink way, way more, so I'm slowing down. Some nights I have two, most nights one, and on Friday or Saturday I may have three-five, but I average 14 a week. Next year, it'll be 13, or quite possibly less, as I'll have a sweet baby girl joining my wife and I in March. Can't party like we used to...

Until recently I was a couple drinks a night during the week, usually a glass of wine and maybe a beer. Over the past few months I don't drink at all mon, tues, wed unless I have a work gig. It's something that felt like a good thing to try. Thursdays I have a beer, maybe two and a slug of wine. Friday I usually have 3 beers with a slug of wine late. Saturday I have a bomber of good ipa in the afternoon, a decent beer while I cook dinner and usually a couple glasses of wine later. Sundays it's a good beer that I have been saving and we open a stellar bottle of wine for dinner. If we go out I have two. If we go to a friends, it depends on the event. We often beer taste.

I joke I work out so I can drink beer. That is mostly true, My goal is to burn as many beer calories as I generally consume over the course of the week. That isn't easy dammit. I don't eat sweets so I can drink beer. I cut out all other empty calories so I can drink beer. All that helps keep me unfat. If my work pants get a little snug I either workout more or modify what I eat. Cutting beer back further is a last resort.

I don't drink past 8 during the week as it helps my sleep. I used to drink a glass of stout at night. Terrible sleeping took over. Bad stout.

I am conscious of the amount we spend on beer and wine. Only over the past couple years have I jumped into the craft beer scene. My wine bill has come down a lot as beer is cheaper than the wine I like to drink. Lately though my total spending is at an all time high since I've taken to expensive sours. I've stopped going to Starbucks for the love of beer. I might stop heating my house.....it's imperial stout season.

Some limitations/guidelines/"rules" which I have been playing by lately:

*If I am going out drinking/drinking all day at a festival then I won't crack something open once I'm home. Typically.

*High ABV beers are best when shared with good friends.

*If I open a growler by myself I don't have to finish it all in one sitting.

*Life's too short to drink bad beer!

No more than four beers a night. I have the funds, and work out six days a week so I see no reason to go without. If you like beer, what would be the point in not having one for a day or a month. I doubt they'll put on your gravestone, ''He only drank a beer a night'. Health concerns are a given, and if you're trying to lose weight as well.

Currently deployed to Saudia Arabia, and all they have is Budweiser/Heineken. Have been here three months, and have NOT had a beer for three months. People always ask what is one of the first things you will do when you get back. I dont think I should tell them I plan to spend a couple hundred on Abrasive/Hopslam/Celebration/Sucks. They would probably ask If Im having people over, the answer would be no.

I only drink one weekday, if at all. I also refuse to spend more than $1,000,000 on beer in a year

My schedule fluctuates so much between day and night work that it basically put its own limitation on my beer drinking. I'm really in to trying all kinds of new stuff right now, and it actually makes it more enjoyable to be limited. This site has been a big help, although my wife keeps saying that I am obsessed with beer. I guess I can think of worse obsessions.

I normally have one beer during the week and two on weekends, totaling about $3-7 in a given week.

    Other things:
    - I buy bottles/cans instead of beer at bars to save money
    - I save the expensive/limited release/specialty brews for the weekend, and drink cheaper (<$1.50/bottle) beers during the week.
    - I drink a minimum of one PBR a month just to keep me humble

But don't listen to me, I'm just a poor college student.

I don't drink every day, but usually if I'm drinking bombers it's with my beer drinking partner (my cousin). Since we don't drink every day when we do drink we usually knock out 4 or 5 in a day and call it good. Price does not matter much since I don't keep up with most of the bottle prices. I just get what I want and then let the cards fall how they may. I've loved cheap beers and drain poured expensive beers. That's not what it's about for me. I just want to find the best beer no matter what.

If I'm drinking 12oz bottles then I'll do it by myself usually while my wife cooks dinner and I make inappropriate comments about how she needs to cook naked.
