Anyone hear when Abraxas is supposed to drop out in the suburbs? Is there anywhere in the city to still get it?

I haven't seen anything yet on the twittersphere. I have a feeling it will miss the burbs.

That was my guess, but I was hoping that wouldn't happen.

West Lakeview Liquors had about a case left at 5pm today. You'll have to ask for it.

Talked to someone at Arlington Heights Binnys tonight, he wasn't sure if or when they might get some but said it would be one case at most....not sounding good at the moment

Aunt Flow? Hardly. However, if people would bother to check the 2nd page or maybe do a quick search there is this great thread that got started about Abraxas availability in the city, go figure right??:

Call me crazy but the suburbs isn't the city and the city isn't the suburbs.

I was simply pointing out that the original post explicitly asked "Is there anywhere in the city to still get it?". Davey was simply answering this question and you got all butthurt over it.

No, you made the snide comment then pointed it out. Could have done without that part. That was the point....

Not butt hurt at all. Bottom line is the thread title says suburbs, and in the OP he asks additionally about city availability as well. Would have been easier to ask for city availability in the thread already created for that, and keep this one strictly to suburbs (as the title to the thread would have you believe). We're not talking quantum physics here. Please keep the Aunt flow and butt hurt comments coming tho.

Back to the topic at hand, I've talked to a couple store owners out in the west BURBS and got the same "we're not sure if we're getting it or not" response as everyone else. Fuck it, BCBS season is coming upon us and that's good enough for me.

Why are you bringing up BCBS? There are plenty of other threads for that.

Abraxas has indeed made it to the suburbs. Once my buddies from tasting group have a chance to get out of work and grab a bottle, I'm sure one of us will post where you can find it out in the wild blue yonder.

Well it is after 5PM, so Tuscan Sun in Hampshire and Hammar's East Side Liquors in Geneva each got one case of Abraxas. They said 2 other cases were coming to the suburbs but their distributor didn't tell them where. If your local place gets Perennial, then maybe you're in luck. I have no clue if they have any Abraxas left, so I'd call before driving a distance in rush hour traffic. Anyhow, it hit the 'burbs today in limited quantity.

Was that Geneva place charging $30 a bottle? I stopped going there a long time ago because they were shady dudes.

Their pricing is a couple of dollars more than, say, Binny's, but Jesal (the son) is a great guy that loves craft beer and somehow has built a really great craft store in such a tiny space. I was in there tonight and there were easily 10 or 15 beers that wouldn't last the afternoon at a bigger store. Abraxas, Hereafter, floyds 6-packs, a bunch of Surly, the list goes on. It's a small business, and they can't get the deals that the big stores can, so they need to charge a little more to make it worth their while to sell craft. I really do love that store.

It's over an hour to the Chicago stores one way. I think most folks would save a lot by paying the $3 rather than the gas money to the city. I talked beer for 15 minutes with the owner of Tuscan Sun. Enjoy the experience.

Glen Ellyn Binny's has it. You'll have to ask for it.
