My girlfriend Isn't a big drinker, which isn't a terrible thing (Best DD Ever). She generously nods her head and smiles as I talk about a beer as if it were a Masterpiece crafted by Michelangelo himself. I digress...

Being that she isn't a huge drinker she will usually have only 1 beer or so. She always tries the beers I order. Ive found that she has quite a wide variety of likes. Farmhouse Ales and Sours, to IIPA's (Abrassive is her favorite) and Imperial stouts . However, the only beer I've seen her drink in large quantities are the NG Fruit Beers and those stupid/delicious Angry Orchard's (adult apple juice)

Maybe this is a Michigan thing but I see fellow female beer lovers everywhere. Local festivals seem to be about 50/50, both halves of couples are drinking beer in nearby breweries, etc. (Normal restaurants maybe not so much). My favorite beer store always has women in there buying/sampling beer when they do a dedicated tasting (otherwise I'm usually the only one in the store, so I can't say how it is normally). All of my female friends like craft, too, and I see women all over the place on Untappd.

Mine is nearly as enthusiastic as I am. We had our honeymoon in Munich and fresh Mahr's U, Herren Pils, or Andechser Doppelbock brings the same smile to both of our face.
While her work hours don't always jive with tastings and events, nearly every beer I've had, she has, too. We have similar tastes, although slightly different preferences.

I find it funny that the majority of posts here are guys posting about their wives/girlfriends. I was hoping to see more women posting. Maybe a lot of them are just less pathological about it than men. My wife really likes beer, but she'd never join an online community to argue endlessly about whether this year's batch is better/worse than the previous year's or when 3 Floyds burned down...

My girlfriend is coming along slowly but surely.. It's hard not to when she is surrounded by it. She's always down to go to all beer fests, releases, breweries, etc. She loves saisons, blondes, tripels, hefs, but isn't too keen on the hoppy stuff yet. Although, she raves about Zombie Dust and loved Heady.. So, without knowing anything about them, she seems to have good taste!

When my wife finished Chemotherapy she could not taste her Labatt Blue Light that she has drank forever. I gave her a Arcadia Nut Brown Ale and she has been with the force ever since!

My experience is as a female that men don't tend to give a lot of respect to female beer drinkers. In MA Backlash beer had to deal with this very recently and were very upset at how disrespectively one of their founders were dealt with at a promo event.
I used to drink cider back in the UK where it isn't a nasty sugar bomb like it is here. I started into wits, then wheats and now drink most types apart from English bitter, IPAs.
I buy most of the beers in our house including IPAs for my husband and we both (over) enjoy beer festivals together. We have also done a number of beercations. I have a good relation with three excellent beer stores nearby enjoying their selections and weekly beer tastings and we are known at the local breweries and some of the Vermont ones too.
Men who under estimate women as BAs are just silly.
Oh and I don't drink Heady I am just the other person to allow multiple cases to be bought.

Luckily for me, my wife is into craft beer. We take trips specifically to go visit breweries such as vermont and oregon. I have to say it is quite rare though and she always talks about how she tries to get her female friends into beer but they just don't appreciate it.

Just recently, she went on a trip to Seattle. It took some time but she was finally able to convince her 3 other female friends to go to Bottleworks where she got to enjoy an '01 LP Kriek.

My wife loves good beer - she is more of a porter/stout drink and I am more of an IPA drinker but we both enjoy all good beer so it works out okay...I was a little shocked to find this past weekend that she liked Sam Smith's Taddy Porter more than Ballast Point's Victory at Sea, I was blown away by Victory at Sea.

my wife got me in to craft beer years ago. we like pretty much the same things, except she has yet to warm up to sours. at the beer fests we go to in the seattle area, i'd say at least 30-35 percent of the attendees are women, if not more. when we go to local breweries it's probably more 50/50. northwest women love craft beer.

C'mon man, you totally talked it up a little first, right? "Honey, look what I got today!! Do you know what this is?!?" I just don't see someone who doesn't like hop-forward beers giving much of a shit about either of these beers unless they taste the hype.

I don't know what the big deal is about. I've met plenty of women who could drink me under the table; and I'm talking about liquor. Talking about female craft drinkers is like talking about male strippers. They exist but some think it's hard to believe they do.

I think there's more growth in the female craft drinkers market than in the male strippers market. Which is to say, I would like to think so. I'm only a connoisseur of one of those things...

Having worked a bunch of the BA fest I think the percentage is higher than most think. The crowds have been anywhere from 70/30 to 55/45 . Also notice that they are more adventurous than the men when it comes to trying new beers.

Of the last 4 girlfriends, I've had, 1 loved craft, 1 liked it, 2 didn't.

The current doesn't like beer, but she has gotten obsessed with the information and intricacy of the scene. How ordered, categorized, and complex it all is and it appeals to her kind of mind. She got into it buying beers for my birthday. She continues to research beers and ask me about them and is currently working on getting some beers for Christmas.

Of the 2 craft enthusiasts, the "liked" enjoyed stouts I drank (she was a professional cake artist) and some of the chocolatey stuff, but didn't like anything else. The "loved" was into everything we're all into. We would hold makeshift blind tastings together and go to beer events. Her favorite beer was GF West Coast.
