I work out 5 days a week and typically only drink beer on Fridays and Saturdays, because I don't want to be a tremendously fat man.

I drink once or twice a month and 2-3 beers when I do.
I have enough to drink just what I do plus work a crazy schedule.

I realized my drinking was getting more than what it should and I wanted to be more healthy. By healthy standards you can drink two 12oz beers/day and be perfectly fine and actually have it "possibly" benefit your health. That doesn't mean 2 10% beers....I'd say to stick in the healthy limits they should be 6% or lower.

I quickly....and I mean, QUICKLY...realized sticking to that for me was/is very difficult. I'm always shocked by the amount of people on threads like these that say they rarely drink or only have 2 beers/week. My newest idea is to actually map out my week and decide which days I don't want to drink and which days I do. At the end of the week, if I've stuck to my plan, I feel really good about myself and have way fewer hangovers than usual.

Just an idea for anyone else out there trying to cut back!

I am 50, work a ton of hours, in a stressful environment. I try to limit myself to 2- 3 beers a day, and really savor quality instead of quantity. I try to limit my expenses to $30 bucks every two weeks on beer purchases. Sometimes, I actually acheive these numbers, but when I don't, and spend to much, and stock up what most normal sane people would feel is plenty, but I have 4x that and am buying more, I really felt bad about not hitting my goals. Upon occasion, I may open beer number 4.........

Then I realized, I may get hit by a bus tomorrow, and that I have no idea when my number will come up, so I decided to not add to my stress with silly goals and expectations, and instead of feeling bad about myself, feel good, and feel lucky to be able to do what I want to do when I want to do it. I feel relief, happiness, and a simple hop induced bliss!

Now if only I could convince my wife of these things.....................

I am the worst kind of drinker in the world - i dont have a sip of alcohol all week and then generally drink about 4 more than i should on either Friday or Saturday...

I usually drink more than I should because I want to try as many beers as possible when I do drink since I dont try any during the week - it obviously becomes very counterproductive after trying about 3...

I have kind of a cool system, at least it works for me, so I can have as much as I want on any given night, but i have to pay for it with time off let me explain:

for every oz of beer i have i have to take an hour off of drinking so if i drank 72 oz of beer i couldnt have another one for 3 days, so i know that if i really want to have some on a friday or saturday night then i have to make sure i am in the clear, this allows for two 12 ouncers on any given night or 1 bomber, but if i decide to have 2 bombers then i have to take a day off or 3 bombers then 2 days off etc. it works out pretty good for me because i really have to weigh how much i want to have because it means not drinking for a certain number of days after, i know its kind of silly to have an exact plan, but i needed something i was indulging a little too much

on work nights i can only handle one beer. i get up too damn early and i'm sick of feeling like shit all day at work. i really want to eliminate beer during the work week altogether but it's just so damn nice to crack one open after 10 hours in hell.

Just something to note for those of you who think that spreading out the beer consumption over a week is better for you health wise...

The main reason you put on weight due to alcohol, other than drinking to excess and eating while drinking, is that alcohol slows your metabolism by about 24 hours. So by having one beer a day, you're constantly keeping your metabolism locked down. I'm not saying to drink once a week and consume liters upon liters of beer. But enjoying a few every couple of days seems to be the better choice for those of you who have health repercussions in mind. Just a thought

I try to limit myself to how much I visit my local craft beer bar, but it's almost impossible.

    I dont drink beers between 6am and 6:00pm on Mon-Thurs. I also don't drink from 12:00am to 6:00am on those days. It's a struggle, but I'm committed

Usually every April I try to abstain from beer for a week or two. It usually works out well...except for last April. I made it three days and then, on my bike ride home from work, stopped in at my local watering hole just to see if there was anything I was missing out on. Totally forgot that was the day they were doing a Bell's tap takeover including Hopslam. Also, right after I got there, I was greeted by one of my good friends who happened to be there and he's a heavy drinker. That night ended horribly. Hopefully next April I can make a comeback!

I'm not concerned with cost or calories, but how I feel in the morning is paramount. If I'm scheduled to work, it's pretty unlikely that I will be imbibing--at all. Even when I do, 2 is the max. Animal House was filmed in 1978, it doesn't need a sequel.

I usually have one, occasionally two on an evening. A day or two away from it falls into each week. Some days off might have a little more than one or two involved. More often or not, it just depends. The only self imposed limit I have is making sure that I have time to enjoy my beer. Chugging is for BMC's.

2-3 a day average, twice that on the weekends. Never take breaks.. I don't have time for that non-sense. Worst part are the bottle shares becoming all too frequent. Those are drunken, expensive, extremely fun times.

I drink about 6-8 beers a week. No more than 2 at one sitting. I've got no system of when I get the opportunity, as my kids are pretty involved in sports, so it's usually a beer with dinner and that's about it. There are some days I don't drink beer at all....
