Just saw this on The Full Pint. Posting for information only.

Kern River Brewing – What’s On the Horizon for 2014?
Category: Beer News, Kern River Brewing

[IMG]We caught up with Eric at Kern River Brewing to see what was going on with one of California’s most popular breweries.
Whats on the horizon for 2014?
    - Should Kern River meet their demand in Kern County and SoCal with their brewhouse expansion, they look to expand to Northern California.
    - Kern River looks to begin canning their beer.
    - Collaboration with Knee Deep Brewing, nothing concrete.
    - No changes to packaging (other than canning) or prices for 2014.
    - Planned attendance of Craft Brewers Conference and GABF 2014

Nothing to add, but cans of JO with consistent distro to So Cal will be amazing!

I heard that the problem holding them up was that expanding would also cause an issue with their liquor licensing from a brew pub to a retail like atmosphere if they wanted to sell more bottles/cans from the brewery itself.

I'm excited for the future for them. JO cans would be tits.

Screw SoCal they need to hit distro in San Luis County first.

Glad to hear about their progress. Hopefully long term, and I'm talking over 5 to 10 years, they perhaps strive for the early days of Sierra Neveda. (though I'm sure they have no ambition to be THAT big) but I mean the mindset that Just because your in a smaller more remote location, and that local demand is high, and meeting that demand is difficult, doesnt mean you can't also expand just a little beyond that a little bit each year. In fact, sometimes that very thing will help you grow to better serve your local community, since it opens more accounts, and make you feel more comfortable in funding an expansion.

If it was to be a $10 four pack I'd hope they were at least pint cans.

KRBC has been the cheapest bombers compared to a lot of others. around $4.50 for JO, come on, even if they raised prices, I'd consider it just making up for all those times I bought their beer for well below what that liquid gold was worth.

I've never seen any KR in SFV. Does it come that far up?

It's not around all the time and when it is you'll rarely, if ever, see it on the shelves. You gotta ask for it; it's usually kept in back.

You know what, now that I think about it the couple times I've gotten bottles of JO it was on this side of the hill, not the valley. I've seen it at Vendome BH and Beverage WH in Playa/Marina but it was around the same time and not since. I go to Vendome TL and Valley Beverage whenever I venture to the valley and I've never seen it there. Sorry if I got your hopes up. :flushed:

No worries. I think Valley Bev gets some good stuff in but I've never seen KR. I'm assuming it goes fast if they do get it. What about Alpine. Any places in the SFV carry it?

Alpine is the same as JO availability-wise in my experience. I've seen it on this side of the hill, not the valley side. Again, very rare (unless you're talking about Alpine Ale, Captain Stout, or Willy--that stuff is everywhere--but I know you're not).

Are you new to craft beer? I only ask b/c I'm sure we could all recommend other fantastic and much more attainable IPAs for you to seek out in the meantime.

I'm surprised that the many times I've seen JO on the shelf, it's been at that El Segundo Whole Foods.

While I am happy to be back in Norcal, I do miss being able to pick up JO on a daily basis :slight_frown:

They used to have it pretty regularly at Total Wine in Northridge. Not so anymore.
