    Fingers are crossed that Red's Rye does well enough that it not only comes back to 6s, but 12s too :stuck_out_tongue:
    I'd also be okay with a once a month "Enjoy By"-esque release

    Nope. KBS is its own unique beer. It's not the "base" of anything that goes into the barrel.

    I hope a day comes when they bottle their black IPA. Had it on tap back in July, and I thought it was one of the best damn beers I've ever had.

    They did bottle it. It was called Inspired Artist IPA.

    Need it to be a national release, and I believe someone from the brewery told me the Inspired Artist IPA was different from the one they had on tap.

    Love red's but im pissed that they put in 4 packs and charge the same as 6 pack that they used to come in

    Seeing as how Curmudgeon sits around virtually everywhere, it's practically a year-round anyways.

    Yeah Imperial stout is absolutely not the base beer for KBS. Just look at the IBUs.

    I love that beer but your right, it's definitely a winter beer, so I buy it in the spring and drink it in the late fall early winter. Cheers

    While I agree and know FIS isn't the base beer, would the IBU argument be valid? Wouldn't it make sense that the IBU's would be lower through barrel aging?

    my understanding, and it could definitely be wrong, is that IBUs are calculated based off of the recipe (ounces of hops, alpha acid in hops and boil time). I don't think the IBU calculation would be altered with barrel aging although bitterness might be lost from barrel aging.

    Well, if you're going to use Firestone as an example, it should be noted that Firestone isn't available at all in MI.
