Just trying to get some info on it. Was this a brewery only release? How often is it made? I imagine it trades for less than a Black Tuesday?
A good place to start is looking at the wants/gots ratio: 740 Wants/541 Gots Which tells you immediately that this isn't a very rare beer, & you should be able to get it for other limited locals that are very good. I know it's a Bruery Reserve beer. I believe it's been released three times now. Somebody on the inside can probably provide the specifics. Note: this is a kick-ass beer & you should be trading for it. However, do not drink in quantity on a school night, because it's a butt-whupper that will leave you with a headache. Great stuff.
it is a delicious beer that, to my understanding, is pretty much perpetually available to reserve society members (and possibly even non-members?). it's far better than black tuesday, yet BT gets all the hype. i don't get it. solid locals should do it.
Its available for non-RS as well, as you can buy it from the tasting room or purchase online. There used to be a joke that Melange No. 3 was a shelf turd since it sat on shelves for months after release when Bruery Provisions was still open. Its a great beer and one of my favorite Bruery beers.
Trades for less than BT, is available somewhat often because it doesn't always get bought-up quickly, and it is something like $30. Honestly, if you know anyone in RS or have traded with anyone in RS, it would be easier to just ask them if they can buy one for you and then you cover all of the $4$ beer/shipping costs. I'm pretty sure it is for sale right now.
2012 Melange# 3 was available through the tasting room pretty much until the 2013 version was released. Amazing beer, should be able to offer limited locals for it.
I think this beer is a prime example of hype (or, rather, lack thereof) in action. I personally have never met anyone who preferred Black Tuesday over M3; but it doesn't have a crazy one-day-only sale with crashing servers, etc. so it's valued significantly lower.
Thanks everyone. I ended up trading for a bottle with a guy who was already sending me other Bruery Stuff. I'm hoping to do a Black Tuesday, Grey Monday, Chocolate Rain and Melange 3 tasting in January. Any other variant of BT out there?
Mocha Wednesday will be available at some point, but I don't know if it will be released in time for your January tasting.
