So... I have now tried many of the "best" IPA's and DIPA's. In the last week I tried Two Hearted, Union Jack, Double Jack and Dirt Wolf. While these are excellent beers and very well done, I always miss the extra "bite" and juicy fruit explosive taste I get from Lagunitas Sucks, Maximus and Brown Shugga'. All of the other IPA's and DIPA's I try seem to all be dry, bitter and, well... kind of boring.

Are there any other Juicy brews similar to the Lagunitas trio I mentioned that I should try?

Thanks in advance for chiming in.

Jai Alai if you can get it.

Lagunitas does have some of the best priced stuff on the market!

A few minutes way you have the home turf of Bear Republic's Racer 5.

Just tried Schlafly's Tasmanian IPA for the first time and was blown away. Also, Zombie Dust if you can get your hands on some.

Lagunitas house yeast is an English yeast that tends to leave a good bit of sweetness and malt backbone. Match that with there (very) high mash temps and you've got a very distinct Lagunitas house character which is hard to match. Try southern tier 2xipa which comes off a touch sweet to me sometimes.
And +1 to racer 5 as well.

If you're looking for beers that are 'close' you're looking for imitators. Look for things that stand apart and on their own. Beers brewed by brewers who want to find a new piece of brewing terra firma upon which to stand and plant their righteous flag.

Years ago I worked for a printing company and the over-night brewer was Columbian. Medellin, actually. His mother would send him 7 gram packets every week. When you've enjoyed the real thing... well....

Looking for similar is meaningless, look for adventure, I say.

What about Hop Stoopid? It's also Lagunitas but I'm surprised you didn't mention it. Also I agree. Between flavor and price Lagunitas IPAs are hard to beat.

    "7 grams every week?"
Surprised it wasn't more :stuck_out_tongue: I mean, purity goes a long ways, but still; funny anecdote though! :grinning: I'm sort of the same way after living in NM for years.

I agree that Schlafly's TIPA is the fruitiest IPA I've ever had. Tangerines, nectarines, i.e. really bright orangey flavors by my palate. Two Hearted Ale has some very bright citrus flavors too, though, so I'm not sure that's what OP is looking for.

I agree with Dogtown that looking for imitation is kind of silly. Maybe try some other perfect, every-day IPAs. SN Torpedo and seasonals, NB Ranger and Rampant, Southern Tier's 2x and Unearthly, and I hear Ithaca has some top notch stuff. Not sure if you get Founders? but Red's Rye PA and Centennial are incredible (I like Red's )

I bet you find another great every-day beer! And if not, no worries, it sounds like you've already found a couple

I love Lagunitas, I am drinking my first imperial stout from them. I think the score on the old faithful Ba forum (lol) was 83. This beer is fantastic, especially after it warms up! Lagunitas as far as I am concerned, has done no wrong yet. Still you should try Dreadnaught, Permanent Funeral, Arctic Panzer Wolf and other 3ff DIPAS because they are some of the best ever.

Drink Drakes! Especially the Aroma Coma or Denognizer, also some union, wookey, or double jack from Firestone Walker is great national distro goods. If you're going to drink any FFF ipa's, I would reccomend Dreadnaught (oh yea!), Alpha King, or Pride n Joy
