Been on this site for close to 13 years now, thinking about everything the beer scene's gone through since then, makes me nostalgic. So, I thought it would be cool/funny for people (especially us folks that have been around for a while) to post stuff they remembered when they joined the site. I'll start it off.

One of the top beers in the world, was DFH 120

You could still buy Cantillon cheap and no one even on this site (at the time) had heard of it. talking 1999 or so.
Westvleteren cafe was not crowded. lol. You could still get 3 crates in the beer line, and you could get through on the beer line, early 1990's

Going to every liquor store in town and spending hours trying to find Dark Lord.

I remember when a 6 pak of Miller Light was my good beer for the night when I was in college. Didn't matter what I drank after, as long as it was cheapo!!

yep, they used to sit on the shelves for years....literally.:grinning:

even in Belgium in 70's and 80's lambic nearly all died out, but NOT quite.

that apricot lambic is still a no no to me.:stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah shopping is bad enough...don't know why or how breweries/bottle shops decided that they needed to add the release of some amazing beers to the mix of things that people go fucking crazy for (aka guy getting trampled I walmart)

That's a pretty good memory - they've been complaining about that for over a century in the US.

People used to buy a six or twelve back, maybe even a case. Amazing to see all of the "latest haul" pictures with enough beer for a year.

I remember when Killian's Red was released back in 1984! I was at Ohio U. and we got a group together to sample the first "tapping" up town! How far I've come! Do they even still make it?

I also remember, when I was a kid, my Dad, drinking/buying Braumeister in "returnable bottle" cases! About once a month, I'd ask him if I could taste it! Surprisingly, everytime it gave me "bitter beer face"! I remember thinking, "how in the hell, could someone enjoy THAT"?

Oh, yeah, it's continued. I bet they would have lapped themselves by now, and if the few oldline brewers who still do seasonal bocks were truthful, their labels would read "2017" or so when released next spring...er, I mean this winter.
