There was still that kind of easy access to Westvleteren in 2000 - just drop off your empty crates and pick up full ones.

I remember when Dogfish used to only make excellent beer. Yeah, it wasn't that long ago.

I cannot really remember the first import IPA that showed up (probably that Bass packaging that you mention), but I do remember Ballantine IPA, Red Cap Ale, and Black Horse(?) Ale that were marketed years ago. I first learned of IPAs reading history. The Ballantine IPA wasn't always around, but was quite good. We drank Red Cap Ale all of the time- it was better than decent as I recall, pulling back the webs of memory!

Very similar... I was at Ohio State in 1982, working at a pizza place when Bud Light was released. The day our first kegs arrived we put it on the sign out front, and had a crush of people that night and sold out the 2 or 3 kegs we were allotted. Had no clue at the time what was coming in light beers - it seemed like a novelty then.

I remember when I received a flat (I think it was 24 pint cans) of Guinness for a Christmas present after just turning 22. We did "Secret Santa." One of the best gifts I ever received at an extended-family Christmas.

I think so - aka the man who brought craft beer to RI, if I'm thinking of the same person.

Chimay Blue was still a truly world class beer and relatively hard to come buy. And Duvel a virtual whale. Not forgetting the Canadian stubby which was ubiquitous in Ontario and much revered either.

Yes sir! 3F, Great Divide to name a few... It was easy to run to RI and grab a sixer of Alpha King, Mild, or Gumballhead!

I remember when I thought (over 10 years ago) Ale Asylum Hopalicious was a strong beer. It is 5.8% ABV.

I remember when drinking beer was just the cheapest way to get drunk...then craft comes along and ruins the WHOLE party. What? This is supposed to taste good too?! Motherfu...........

My memories predate the BA site so I'll just give you all something to think about when it comes to 'prehistoric' beer cost. It's the early 1970s... a case of Schmidt's in returnable bottles was $3.00. I think the bottle deposit on the case was 50 cents.

ALL of the beer information was incredible. Almost overwhelming. Plus the shear number of craft brews out there, SO many I had never heard of, opened my eyes and taste buds! So many beers, so little time. What a journey!
