Agreed! 120 was more balanced and less boozy than previous vintages. Yet I enjoy this monster as well, never reviewed them because each year seems to change. So it's unfair to review a beer that is always progressing or is always devolving.

Here's my second and last new beer review for today, Prairie Ales 'Merica: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30356/91331/?ba=bluejacket74

I thought it was a pretty good farmhouse ale, I'll have to try more Prairie Ales whenever I find them from now on. I'll be drinking one more (not new) Pumpkin Ale, and then that'll be it for today I think.

    New Smoked Imperial Porter Sunday

Tons of great write ups on an active NBS. I was thinking this may be a lighter day due to all the hangovers (of the turkey variety of course).

Also, happy/merry generic religious winter holiday wishes to all.

I picked up this great brew in my travels last weekend and it did not disappoint. I love a good smoked porter but this really nailed it for me.

Ghandi Bot has been on my to-do list forever…it's too bad I'm not up there permanently anymore! Louisiana is cool…but let's just say I prefer the distribution in RI and MA to here

As promised, I am back again with my second new beer of the day:

Between you and me, I think I would rather have the regular BCBS than this. I'm not sure if that's a sin or not, but I'm feeling a little dangerous tonight either way. And you know what, this may be the perfect time to drink the Red Dog my buddy left in my fridge seeing as my palate is completely destroyed.

    Have a good week everyone!
    Cheers!

Don't be jealous, my beer budget just shrank for the next couple of months.

I opened up a Rodenbach 2011 Vintage Oak Aged Ale (Barrel No. 95) tonight, and after smelling it I got worried this would be like drinking straight vinegar. I was wrong. Here's my review, which happens to be the first ever review for this beer, somehow. It's worth seeking out, it's got a wonderful dry flavor. No clue how there are so few reviews, maybe because it is inexplicably listed as "retired."

    New American Pale Ale Sunday

I LOVE going furniture (and other) shopping with my girlfriend instead of drinking beer and watching football all day. (The sarcasm should be obvious.)

ANYWAY, after I came home I had my second (and another bottle of it) beer today.
This selection - another from Milwaukee Brewing Company - was better than the other. (Still nothing great or particularly noteworthy. This is my third beer from them and I'm hoping that better brews are in store from this brewery.

    New disappointment Sunday

Serrano Sidekick by Crown Valley Brewing

Man, if only I hadn't second guessed myself and had left Ben Tate in my lineup, my chance to make the playoffs would be vastly improved. Oh well. That and Peyton really needed to find someone --anyone!-- other than Decker to connect with for his TDs. 41 points against me. Ouch.
Since we last checked in with our intrepid hero...
This brew was a huge letdown for me. I wasn't expecting greatness necessarily, but I'm pretty sure this is the lowest grade I've actually reviewed so far. It just tastes like spicy soap. Not pleasant. I'm thinking I may have to revisit my whole 'drainpours are evil' policy. It just feels like such a waste of five bucks. Ultimately, though, I'm not gaining anything from drinking it (but calories), and it's hit the point of negative on the enjoyment scale. So it is decided.

    New Rauchbier Sunday (week 458)

Greetings from the newly snowed upon far north of the Kingdom of Vermont. Long day driving to get here, took the scenic route, one I will change into the beer route tomorrow for the ride home.

Yes, so much goodness that needs to be brought back to share with those whose goodness has sustained me greatly during recent trying times.

But this is a day of joy, things turning again to my favor, as the karma wheels turns again. Including this beer of joy, consumed here in motel plastic cup. Even in this unworthy glass it shines as though it were in a crystal chalice.

Best rauchbier I have tried. Fucks with my head greatly that I have not tried it before now. This is a German work of art, and though I am enjoying German craftsmanship, I hope you have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

The camera in this Toshiba sucks so no pic today.

Those who know me will realize this song was chosen not just because I worship Mr. Dave, and will have the pleasure of seeing him perform soon with masters, but esp. because of the title
