So through my experience at local the Binny's and reading posts online, it seems like the Coffee variant is very hard to find this year. I was back home in Chicago for Thanksgiving weekend, and went to two different Binny's (consecutive mornings because I found out one wasn't selling their share of Bourbon County until Saturday). The first Binny's didn't even receive a single case of the coffee variant, and the second one only received one! Anyways, I was disappointed because it was the one I wanted to try most behind Proprietors.

I did read a couple posts saying more BCBCS might be released later... could that be true?

Coffee was the only one I was not able to secure. I was #20 in line at my Binny's. Limits were two bottles of regular, and one of each variant. They ran out of coffee two people in front of me. Berry was gone 2 behind me. Judging off that and the reactions of the rest of the crowd behind me, I think they only got one case of Coffee, two of Berry and Barleywine, probably three of the Coconut, and maybe 5 or 6 of regular BCBS.

I heard rumors that regular BCBS would continue production into December. Not sure about any of the variants.

The low numbers are really unfortunate, as the Coffee BCBS is phenomenal. As my wife said, "it tastes like fresh ground coffee smells and you hope would taste, but never actually does".

IMHO it's much better than previous years, and has probably unseated Peruvian Morning as our coffee beer of choice around here. (Though, to be fair, PM and Coffee BCBS are very different animals, taking distinctly different approaches to incorporating the coffee element. Coffee BCBS is more like a French roast espresso, while PM is closer to a Kenyan blend.)

Can't comment on the second paragraph, but my wife said essentially the same exact thing as yours. I've never had BCBCS this fresh but I'm enjoying this year's markedly better than previous years. So, so delicious.

Agreed - I feel like Chicago got screwed out of Coffee. I was able to get 1 bottle from Binnys in BG and 2 bottles from a liquor store in Mundelein, meanwhile my friend in Madison had no problem getting 4 4-packs of it.

Now I have to go to Wisconsin to get Chicago beers, too?

We were able to land 13 cases of normal BCBS, 2 cases of coffee, 2 barley wine and two cases of Backyard. Sold no limit on BCBS (within reasonable amounts) and coffee/barley 4 pack per person till run-out and 1 bottle per person of backyard till run-out. We did alright I think.

I think the difference is that there isn't quite as much awareness of BCBS here, and people are much more reluctant to pay the super-premium price. Very, very few beers sell for anywhere near $15 per 4-pack in Wisconsin, let alone $20, so what BCBS does make it up here sells slower.

Ill say this again, the yield on Coffee was less than half that of Barleywine. Furthermore, my store in Indianapolis got 12 cases of Barleywine and 5 cases of Coffee which mirrors the yield ratio.

That's a good point, demand is lower

Meh, depends on the city, here in Milwaukee, our store sold out of the variants before noon on release. And all cases of BCBS sold around noon on the next day.

Yeah, I was gonna say, sure as hell sells fast enough to not let me ever see any of it. :stuck_out_tongue:

You are all making me feel good that I got a couple. Incredible beer, and I've never had a coffee stout come close to it.
He was hoarding it. He must have hit Hy-Vee and Woodmans East. Those two stores don't bother to put limits. Everywhere else had 1-2 bottle limit or a lottery that I know of.

Woodman's East had a 2 bottle limit on Coffee and Barleywine and 1 Backyard when I was there. Hy-Vee West had a 1 4-pack limit on the variants, don't know about Hy-Vee East.

Hy-Vee East also had a one 4-pack limit on the variants.

Thanks for all the responses, cheers to you all. Reading through this has made me want some BCBCS even more though!

I called up some local shops around me in Michigan today. One guy told me Michigan didn't receive any variants this year. Can anyone in MI confirm?

I guess you can't win them all. I'm really grateful for Proprietors.

Are you talking about all Otto's locations? There were about 15-20 of us at Oakland when they opened on Saturday and we were limited to 2 4 packs of the regular and 1 bottle of each variant.
