I agree. The BCBW is much better.

You gonna take your ball and go home? Your palate is underdeveloped if you can't tell that Sucaba is better than BC Barleystout. Keep testing hype with your mouth (might wanna get some penicillin for that) and report back.

With you, I'd need more than penicillin. Tweezers would surely be required, to see if there was even anything there in the first place. But alas, I don't swing that way(not that there's anything wrong with that), sorry brah. I also won't report back, but you can try and find some other balls to play with, won't take you very long. Double up!

Look, they're both excellent beers. All I'm saying (and don't "cool story, bro!" me on this) is that I had Bourbon County Stout on tap with about three other people. We then moved on to the barleywine (which, in retrospect, was probably a bad idea) and each of us thought they had given us BCS again. They hadn't. The two beers are sorta similar. I was expecting something along the lines of Sucaba and was slightly let down.

I don't think this thread was started with the idea that there would be any definitive answers to OP's question, but rather to see how many would choose one, how many would choose the other.

That said, I think it is safe to say that any opinions expressed by either of these chil..., errr, folks quoted above can be discarded as not worth considering.

BCBS and BCBBW are pretty different IMO. Although BCBS isn't an aggressively hopped DIPA, I still feel it is a palate wrecker. There is so much going on in that beer.

That was more of a tongue in cheek/smart ass reply. While I thought that KH was a good beer, I found it very one dimensional with an overwhelming barrel presence. Over a year and a half after release it was still very hot/boozy and doesn't taste much like a barleywine. BCBW, on the other hand, is almost perfect right out of the gate, and in my opinion, looks, smells and tastes better.

I don't know, Pre Crisis on Infinite Earths Superman is a lot stronger than Post Crisis. Just saying.

BCBBW crushes Sucaba. That said, I always thought Sucaba was a tad overrated, and I'm totally blown away by BCBBW.

Cortland BBA Flight Level 410 is outstanding!!! Surprised not one mention of Dry Dock Bligh's BW. It's a close second to GI KH IMHO.

Was supposed to do the side by side last night at a tasting but by the time we finished a few brett beers and a TG Assassin we didn't dive into the Barleywines! A bomber of Sucaba and a BCBW is a lot to take on solo but soon enough it will happen and will report back.

Oh course Bligh's is one of the heavy hitters I haven't been able to try yet. Sounds by all accounts that it's up there with the best of them.

Scored one bottle of BCBW today, haven't opened it yet...if it's anywhere nears as good as Sucaba, I'll be extra happy...whenever I get around to it.

I love sucaba but after reading these posts about how mind blowing BCBW is I vote for BC, and I haven't even had it.
