(Relatively) fresh Ballast Point Big Eye IPA! (Damn you, 3 day old Pliny, lol). Prefer this to Sculpin.

It's 10 am or so and I'm sipping on a BCBS. Just got back from an 11 hour round trip to see him coming in from Afghanistan. He looks like he's aged a bit in 7 months, he's 23 looks 30, he's lost 20 lbs and he didn't need too, he's exhausted working 7 months in row without a day off, ever. Seen things most shouldn't have to, and he's on a 4 day grind to get home to NY with two 6-7 hour layovers. He's not exceptional, not heroic, he did what thousands have done before him and will do after, but he's still my son. I always thought I'd send him off to college, not Afghanistan, and I feel deeply guilty for that. Sorry for the ramble, I'm tired as hell, but a beer to him and everyone's son who did their duty.

Wish this could have been the start to the "What beer are you drinking now" thread today! Gotta work today, or else I would toast one to him as well. I served in the USMC for 4 years, but know nothing of what he is going through since it was pretty quiet while I was in.
Thanks to you son Dale, and keep supporting him through it, he needs it!
    Cheers!

Tonight about 8:30 pm I'll be opening a special beer to do a salute to him and his comrades, both those who returned and those who didn't, and if by chance he and I should ever meet in person the beer for the evening will be on me.

Cheers to a fellow Vet. I spent year doing convoys in Iraq and Kuwait.

Here is a much needed beer. I had to stay an extra 3 1/2 hours because one of the guards was snowed in again because he was two lazy to wake up super early like everyone else to shovel the 12 inches of snow Duluth got last night. That makes 25 inches in 3 days.
