To me the holidays is a time for giving. I thought it would be fun if we could give examples of Advocacy and sharing of great beers. Or what the phrase means to you.

You might be BA if ..... When setting up a trade your first thought is to go through your trading partners WANTS list before the GOTS list even enters your thoughts.

You might be a BA if ..... You can't wait to show up to your buddies house with a suprise bottle you just landed in a trade.

You might be a BA if ..... Trading for your partners wants becomes regular.

Hmmmm...maybe too much emphasis on trading there, though I do like the second one. Maybe just end it after the word 'landed'. I definitely can relate to that feeling.

For whatever reason, my first thoughts went more in the Jeff Foxworthy direction, so what the hell-
You might be a BA if...you have two different T-shirt drawers. One for lager breweries, and one for ale breweries.

You bring beer to a party and only you drink the beer you brought

You're a BA if you generously pour good stuff for those that will NEVER reciprocate...and you never complain about that lack of reciprocity.

Maybe I did focus heavy on the trade arena there. :grinning: just had that train of thought at the time.

Also enjoy seeing the look on someone's face when they try something great for the first time.

You get home from your local bottle shop after having spent way too much. Unpacking your haul, you discover a bottle of wine--a $22 bottle of wine!--and the receipt says you paid for it. When you get back to the store, do you take a refund? How you know that you're a BA is that instead, you take the equivalent value in beer...

$22 for wine, I would shelve it and wait for it to achieve greatness

You feel personally insulted if someone bad-mouths a beer you love. "Dirtwolf is a second-rate DIPA? How dare you."

If you see someone in the liquor store buying a 6 pack of GI IPA and you buy him a 6 pack of Kind Ryed with this provisio:
"If he likes Kind Ryed better, he will never buy GI again and, next time in the store, he beer it forward."

You might be a BA IF.... you are giving beer(s) as a Xmas gift because your cellar has grown too large and you spent most your disposable income on limited release beer recently.

You might be a BA if you have beers that you drink by yourself, and beers you share, and the ones you drink by yourself are the inexpensive/common ones, and the ones you share are the expensive/rare ones.

You might be a BA if someone asks you which brewery tour is the best you have been on and it takes you more than fifteen minutes of thinking to decide which one of those you have visited you think is best.

You might be a BA if you swirl and sniff every glass of liquid you drink, even tap water.

A couple of times I've noticed people lurking nearby waiting their turn while I talk to a customer. They thought I was an employee!

...you make lists of your top ten beers in each respective style and post them on a forum
...you can't help but make polls for best breweries with hype surrounding them
...you constantly talk about hype and how it affects peoples' reactions to new beers
...every time you visit a new city/town/county/village you Google what breweries/beer bars are nearby
...it takes every ounce of self-control to not blow all your money when entering a new beer shop with excellent selection

Jeez, I just realized how obsessive-compulsive all these things make me seem
