I would have figured being on Panama City beach, the store would get a decent turnover. Guess not...

I'll drink to that! I had to do a search to find out about Gambrinius, I've now been converted!

I'm happy pappy! Oddly enough, I moved from Michigan about 20 years ago, and don't regert it a bit, though I have lots of great memories from growing up in the Detroit area. I do revere my roots by being a big Bells and Founders fan.

Don't be depressed--although I love variety, local offerings and enjoy my local bottle shop, candidly, between SN and Lagunitas--that could keep me content forever.

I have only two local shops and one I stopped going to because it was just so poorly lit. They hand write their price tags and those are small so trying to read those or look for bottling dates in the dark was just too hard. I went back the other day to get a beer I could not find anywhere else and lo and behold the lights were on. It was a different experience. Even if your shop is crappy, give them some feedback. Encourage them to read these forums and see what happens. =) If they make improvements you will have so much beer!

I ended up playing it safe rather than trying anything new (for fear of dropping money on something insanely out of date).

    6 pack of Weihenstephaner Hefe
    16 oz of Weihenstephaner Dunkel
12 oz single Innis and Gunn

Wondering if I would have been better off dropping $15 on the 6 pack of Sculpin IPA they had...

Have 3-4 decent shops within a 10-15 min range from home or work so no for me as well. Even the crappy local shops down the road carry dfh, stone, gi and the such (even if limited).

I do live in the beautiful Keweenaw peninsula. I don't homebrew just due to the fact I have a hard time drinking the same beer over and over again that would have no clue what to do with all the extra beer I end up with. My biggest loss when I moved here was easy access to trade worthy beers like NG and central waters since we don't get the big name MI beers here. Plus with snow storm season here now I worry about bottles getting delayed or frozen.

This gets even more complicated once spring comes and I move out Isle Royale national park for the most of the summer...which now typing that out I might have answered what to with beer if I home brew it, might have to start thinking about getting a kit

Isle Royale must be just short of Paradise then. (Figuratively.)

I'd put place ahead of access to a wide variety of beer, like you have done. I'll bet it's cold as crap where you are at this moment. Cheers.

Not sure when the last time you were on the site was, but they just updated their website about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Where at in ND? I'm in GF area...know what you mean. Fargo Happy Harrys has a healthy selection compared to the GF store.

I really wish mods would modify the site to reflect city in addition to state in the location.

I want to show this thread to the guy in the mid atlantic forum complaining about NJ's distribution. I bet he could throw a rock and hit 3 quality stores that would make OP's mouth drool.

Yep. If you click on the state under my avatar (or any other BA in WV), you'll see that we all seem to live in the same place on the nifty little map that pops up...
