Name your favorite beer that is inexplicably never mentioned among the greats of its style. Mine is Odell IPA. I have been lucky enough to have all the great ones, but I keep coming back to this as my everyday favorite. It is juicy and balanced with just enough of a malt bill to allow those hops to shine. (Oh, and if you are tempted to complain about yet another repetitive post, save your breath and move on, bro).

Totally agree with you on Odell IPA, although I think it would be more recognized if Odell distributed widely.

My vote is for Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Great beer for a good price.

I have had odell when in Minnesota. I really like them a lot, I wish they would distribute to Illinois.

Call me crazy, but I think that Sierra Nevada Flipside is outstanding. It is one of my favorite IPAs. I'll miss Tumbler, but I'm certainly not disappointed about Flipside being an annual offering going forward.

Red's Rye. I thought Flipside was great as well. Green Flash's Hop Head Red too, so.. guess I can say I'm a fan of the style :stuck_out_tongue:

Previously I would have said Stella or Fat Tire, but I think I've become too snobbish. Anyone else still find these exciting beers to drink?

Can I say Daisy Cutter? People seemingly don't go nuts over it like they do Zombie Dust, for example, but I find it to be just as amazing.

Have to agree with Torpedo based on price, availability, and quality for the style. Another that I'd say isn't talked about enough is Sam Smith Organic Chocolate Stout…stuff is incredible

By a recommendation from a local Binny's dude, I tried Brickstone APA. Smalll brewery out of Bourbonnais, IL (central IL) but won GABF gold in '11 for this beer. Newly arrived in Chicago without ant notoriety and sits on the shelves. People who chase Zombie Dust don't know what treasure is sitting under their nose.

Fort George North VII oak aged IPA. Delicious. I'd say it's underrated due to smaller distribution and being a more limited release. Just surprised it hasn't garnered more praise from the NW crowd.

and I'll throw another vote in for Torpedo because it's so darn tasty.

Because it's not an IPA or RIS, the reviews are shit on here but it is one of the best beers on the market.

Well first I'm not sure I'd say Bourbonnais is central IL :stuck_out_tongue: It's only 2 counties from the lake!
Shame it doesn't seem to be doing well, I always get excited hearing about great IL beers, even if every brewery besides Two Brothers neglects the rest of the state

Funny, but I find surly overrated an extremely underrated beer.

I've tried my share of IPAs and found that one extremely unique, refreshing, and delicious.
