We set up a trade on November 5th (BCBS and BCBCS) for Grey Monday.
Since then, as couple things were added on both sides, but the base of the trade was 16 bottles of BCS and 8 bottles of BCBCS for 3 bottles of GM (with me adding as needed even cost out once he knew what the cost was).
On December 2nd he contacts me to let me know he got his side of the trade and was ready to make the trade. Then later in the day he contacts me again and says shipping will suck "it's like a whole case" and wants to ammend the trade. I wasn't happy with the ammended trade as he still wanted the 3 GM's but wanted to ship 4 less BCBS and 4 les BCBCS. I informed him that shipping wouldn't be that much more, and even agreed to pay the difference between his shipping and mine. He has since not responded to my BM's. In a last distch effort, I called him today to try to work out a deal and he wanted us to "just walk away".

I informed him that I only purchased the bottles of GM after setting up our trade. So, while no beers have changed hands, I purchased these specifically for this trade and had them shipped to me.

Trade with stouts4me at your own risk.......

Sorry to hear. I'll buy them off you (including shipping), if you're looking to recoup your money. BM if interested.

He was surprised at the shipping cost of 16 beers? Thats like being surprised at having to pay taxes.
    No excuse.

No, he was surprised at the cost of shipping 24 beers, which was our original trade (I checked the price and it was ~ $21-24). We had it set up for a month, then he realizes 6 x 4 = 24. I explained to him that getting an account with FedEx would save him a ton of money, but he wasn't interested.

i have talked to fred for a little over a year now and have to say this is completely out of his character. last year for huna day, he volunteered to bring down whatever beers people wanted as he made his way down from illinois to tampa for the event. upon getting a 4 pack of BCBS off him, i gave him a couple beers extra and he threw in a BB PT5 just for the hell of it. my friends have traded with him, and all has gone well.

Fred actually traded me a couple weeks ago tha tincluded a proprietors in the trade for some limited CCB stuff (the trade was definitely not what all the other offers are like...fred even said he doesn tloo kat the "value of the beer" but moreso just quality and make sure the $$$ is right).

Something must have came up for him to want to reject the trade over 20 dollars in trade value. i mean, he drove down and stayed in florida for a week of huna day last year and is retired.

Sorry you feel this way OP, but i would trade with stouts4me all day long.

Maybe so, but we've seen no explanation as such. As it stands he backed out of a trade after the other side purchased beer specifically for the trade - that's pretty shitty.

okay i understand that. i am just saying that from prior conversations, trades my friends have done with fred, etc, this is something that rarely happens and as people have said to trade with caution, i literally just completed a trade with him last week that all went well.

I cant say why he decided to do this...i just know he is a very generous BA that has shared, muled, and traded very fairly and generously. so that being said, something must have come up and i am sure he will either reach out to the OP to make it right, or state his side of the story on BA at some point.

yea thats it...exactly. or maybe shit came up for him since he has a great track record of not dicking people over and has gone beyond accommodating people from what i have heard. like i said...i dont know what exactly happened, nor is it any of my business. i am just saying that this isnt how fred has operated in the past (and recently last week with me).

dont trade with him if you dont want to. i was just giving my year long experience i have had with Fred talking to him and trading with him.I am sure he has his regular trade partners anyways, where it makes no difference whether people out him on BA or not.

    But there was no trade.

Yes, this sucks. Yes, I've had people do this to me. No, I haven't outed them, nor would I.

Because this is a grey area. Maybe we can have the debate one more time, but smearing someone's reputation in a highly public forum because they backed out of a trade where nothing is lost doesn't seem right to me. And here is exhibit A. I suspect if everyone acted this way, the trading forum would be littered with posts like these & most of them would devolve into mud-flinging between the two parties.

So you have a few extra Grey Mondays? Awwwww. I WISH I had that problem! :grimacing:

I agree with you except for this - the OP laid out a tidy sum to purchase the 3 Grey Mondays specifically for the trade and that changes the dynamic from backing out of a potential trade to not following through with a committment. I'd like to hear the other side's version though.

When someone bailed on a trade for Abrasive...I drank it!

Anyways, Black13 appears to believe this is the way things should be done, & I disagree, again.

i would be pissed if i shelled out $90 for beer i have no interest in drinking and the other side bailed. those that said "boohoo, now you have three bottles of grey monday" are missing the point. i'd rather have my money tied up in things i actually want and not have to deal with looking for a way to get rid of them. they're probably not hard to get rid of, but again, that's missing the point. stick by your word because in the end, that's all you have here.

i never really thought of it that way. i guess since GM doesnt have a shelf life like PtE or Zombie Dust, i just figured there has to be somebody that would want the grey mondays and would get snatched up with no harm no foul. i do agree it is a PITA that he was expecting to get the beer he was goign to trade and he was goign to get rid of his grey mondays. As an above poster said, I just think that there are thousands of circumstances that causes somebody to back out of a trade after the initial agreement had been made. Some may be chicken shit excuses, but there are plenty that are valid and should be understandable. NOw, i think the OP is a little upset that he was not given an explanation, which is understandable. I just would not out him on BA when there is so much paranoia with bad traders as of recently.

That does seem a little flaky on his part, but it's not like you're out any beer or time spent packing up your side of the trade. I would just make a personal note and move on.

Quite a few people have backed out on pretrades with me, so now I just assume it's an inherent risk.

As for the "boo-hoo" I'm not missing the point at all. If the OP wants to trade his Grey Mondays to someone else for BCS, I bet he'd have plenty of takers. The OP is out time - & annoyance. That's insufficient reason to me to drag someone rep into the mud, because our "rep" is all we have in trading.
