I did but I felt bad last time I was there when I realized they were the best shop in town and deserved more traffic because they rely on beer sales. I told my FB beer group about them and feel good about it. They've taken care of me so I owe them the same. The other secret shop I go to makes a killing selling hard liquor and wine with beer as an afterthought so I will probably hold that one close.

I do most of my beer shopping at ABC here in FL. But recently I took a walk to this tiny little liquor store not far from my home and found a decent collection of good singles that look to hardly ever get touched, as most of their business is in liquors. I'm sure once I learn a bit more I'll be able to comb the shelves and find some nice aged gems.

Party Source, Newport Kentucky. Not only can I score higher ABV brews in Kentucky than Ohio, it's right across the river from Cincinnati. Oh.. And there's a brewpub inside with 20 taps of amazing rare beers.

Don't really have one. There's a really good liquor store in my hometown, and I like going there but it is super disorganized. My favorite place to go for beer is Woodman's. Their prices, selection, and layout are top-notch. Can't beat New Glarus 6 packs for $6.99

gods no. In my Sacramento-area section of Northern California, there are no secrets. I don't hunt wales though so that's fine.

Indianapolis area? Wanna compare? I just moved away and have no need to keep them secret anymore. Send me a message if you want some spots.

How secret can beer spots be? I cannot imagine the people that REALLY want a beer do not put in the leg work to seek them out at every liquor store they can find. Unless of course we are talking, like, entrance in an alley, no signs, knock four times and give the secret pass code kind of place. THESE places I want to hear about.

My secret beer spot is kind of counter-intuitive, a hide in plain sight situation. Where I am there are two places to get limited release stuff. One has an email notification, first come first reserved distribution policy. The other just throws it on the shelf when it comes in and may or may not advertise the fact. The second place is very popular while the first store is more of a "have to know about it" place.

It's happened a couple of times where the email place reserves individual 12 oz. bottles to make their supply last as long as possible. Even still, I've been shut out of some beers at that place and then gone to the other store and found 4 or 5 4 packs of the same beer just sitting on the shelf.

You can't keep the secret forever and if you did, they'd do go out of business. So. 1. Stock up big and introduce yourself to the manager/s, promising to spread the gospel; 2. come back often with groups of friends and introduce them personally; 3. discreetly ask the manager/s if they have anything special set aside; 3a. if they don't, they will the next time; 4. revel in a "Norm!" like greeting on your future visits with another band of acolytes in tow; 5. be inducted into the beer distributors hall of fame, etc. Some of these steps are optional.

I can't keep a secret. Plus I would want a good beer place to do well and to continue to get great beer so I would tell everyone!

I've found Michigan to be a good beer state. Every time I go there I come home with a car load of beer!

OK - where is it, the one that deserves more traffic, I mean. I get to Texas (mostly SA & Austin) a couple times a year and am always looking for new sites. Specs is sometimes OK as is Whole Foods, but they have sooo much mainstream stuff. Please help a closet Texan!

It's in Mesquite (Dallas area). AD Beer and Wine. A few days ago they had bcbs, backwoods bastard, pumpkinator, bb4 and Bomb on the shelf. All of those have been long gone everywhere else for a while. Don't be a closet Texan. Be open and proud!

I was floored at how awesome Woodman's was when I visited Wisconsin. Especially for a big supermarket. The closest "big market" I can find in the NY/NJ area is Wegman's, which is nice, but nowhere near as good as Woodman's.

I do the opposite: I try to get my beer friends to visit my local shop, because they get some great stuff (relative to the area, anyway), have better prices by about a buck than the alternative shops, it's run by good people, and I like to support small business.

Umm. Everybody strike the above Party Source post from the record. Dannywhitewash is spreading propaganda. It's all propaganda. Don't go there. Stay away. There's no beer there. Actually, this place doesn't even exist.

My comment was really intended to be more of a joke than wanting to hide a beer spot. I shop at the same shops every other BA shops at. Occasionally I am lucky enough to land some good beer.

My honeyhole had five 4-packs of Black Note setting on the shelves last February.
