Sorry I hate touchscreens. I fat finger everything. Just wanted to let folks know before I left (had only my phone w/me) that there were a number of chairs (Green, Red Heavy Duty, and Blue), a hat, and one glove I dug out of the snow late yesterday afternoon just prior to the lock up of the 'occupy DH' area in back. I cleaned them up, put them in the bags if they had them and dropped them at the front door this AM. I stuck the rest of the stuff just inside on the window sill and let the DH bartenders know they were there. In hindsight I should have just piled stuff up in the beer garten for folks to dig through. Lesson learned.

Hahahahahaha Thunderdome fighting! Happened right next to me with dudes I was bottle sharing with. Don't even know why it started. But in my drunken stooper I remember screaming for them to cut each other. Silly kids

By screaming for them to cut each other, you meant you threw sharpened sticks at them, right?

To those saying this should be a ticketed event and they should reduce the cases of Plead the 5th to just 1 max so they can give out more. I personally have no problem with the 2 case allotment because it makes making a trip to Marshall that much more worth it. If they have a 1 case limit next year I'll still go sure but since Plead the 5th is my favorite imperial stout by far I'll have much less of it to drink over the course of a year and would have to trade to get more of it. People who get their full allotment might not even drink all of it anyways and will give it to their friends or trade it to fellow BA members.

4 Elf is about 10 times more enjoyable than what the KBS release has become. Founders has reduced KBS allotment to just half a case and it's a ticketed release. If you're driving a couple hours, a half a case barley pays for itself for all the driving. A ticketed release makes the whole experience of buying the beer just come across as really cold. This year I went to Founders, got my bottles and left. They didn't have KBS on tap for the day I came and there were no tastings or anything remotely special about any of it other than getting bottles of KBS. A couple of my beer friends don't even want to go to the KBS release anymore since there's no tastings beforehand and the allotment has been reduced so much. Even in comparison to the Bourbon County release on Black Friday, 4 Elf is even better than that. Waiting outside liquor stores is not very enjoyable at all.

You compare this to the 4 Elf Party and there's really no comparison as to which is better. There was tastings going on for like 8 hours straight. I was able to drink some Bourbon County Backyard Rye, Black Tuesday, Chocolate Rain, Heady Topper, etc. Then you got your beer order when the party started and it was about 4 cases of beer if you got your full allotment. The party was arguably the best part of the whole thing with them having 50 beers on tap.

For all the other BS in this thread, you're shining through. Advocacy at its best!

Great meeting you and I can't wait to open the surprise Christmas gift beer. Cheers!

I showed up about 9:30 p.m. the night before (really wanted to stay for 4-elf party, but had wife obligations). I was about 25th in line at this point. Had a great time. Dark horse let us use fire pits, wood, heaters, and stopped to chat with a bunch of people. Slept about 3 hours. Woke up around 4:30 a.m. At this point, I was 40th in line (heard some people toward the front let 8-10 friends in). From my vantage point, everything ran very smooth and employees were very friendly. Really the only suggestion I would make for next year would be for whoever is passing out tickets to walk through the line with tickets to pass them out (this would reduce the line cutting as the line moved up; though I didn't see any of this). Then, have another employee walk through the line and collect tickets 20-30 minutes later.

All in all, I was very impressed with the friendly people around me and how smooth everything ran. While i'm a fan of ticketed events, I don't think this event needs it at all. Way to go Dark Horse!

Thnaks, it was great meeting you too. I appreciate you giving me all of the info where to go/what to do when I got back to DH for the party; it eliminated me having to askk 1000 questions to figure where everything was at

Idk why anyone would snub such a polite gentleman such as yourself. You seem so friendly. If you don't respond I'll just assume your AOL dialup crashed.
