Ahh you guys were the tent right behind me I assume? Yes, many people jumped including the super old guy that was toward the front last year (who also started screaming at someone that was trying to deter his cutting) and a group of FIBs that tried to make up for showing up at 4:30-5 am and joining friends in the front by sharing Proprietors ... yeah classy bunch there.

My suggestion is that they pass out tokens or forms upon arrival right at the gate of the beer garten to deter cutting. They had staff on hand all night anyway, so it wouldn't be too hard. Hell, I'd even volunteer to sit there and hand them out all night.

Just wanted to throw this in here as well. I love all of you. Being able to wander around and introduce myself with a pour of beer and a smile and meet all you crazy fuckers is what makes this party great. I love that everyone was there early and wanting to share beer for 8+ hours. Hope to see a bunch of you guys at Winterfest!

Guess there is a minimum paycheck stub to be shown here before joining this group and that counts me out. I've actually been pretty friendly and just gave a few of my "Opinions" on things to just be trampled on and have my character assassinated. So that's why I was not going to reply anymore, but only use BA to get updates and such. Ya'll enjoy your show, most of my 2 years here on BA have been complete enjoyment! Hope that can continue!

Dark Horse was asked this question on facebook and they said they just ran out of Silver wax so they used bronze wax for the rest. All of them were aged in Heaven Hill barrel's

Mine are all bronze, I will say, whatever kind of wax it is, the stuff is damn hard to get off the bottles, either way it's a damn fantastic brew!

Dark Lord Day has proven that you can have a ticketed event and still not have the "cold" aspect of online bottle reservation sales.

Except when the website selling the tickets crashes and people get shutout cause of technology. Also Dark Lord Day doesn't guarantee you get any bottles of Bourbon Barrel Dark Lord regardless of having a ticket.

I am not sure in the case of DLD that it's a lot better. If you don't get the correct 'group' of tickets, you get shut out on the best beers as well. (Vanilla if you won, or say ZD if you were group C). But then again, if you are a brewery looking to cash in, sure why not, make it a paid event, people will drop $35 for the 'opportunity' to buy an unannounced amount of beer.

I will say, while it killed the bottle share and the social aspect of it, KBS switching to the ticket system made it much easier to get my beers, but if there is a lot of the beer as with DLD, it only ensures you get what they tell you that you may purchase, which you didn't know until after you purchased your cost of entry.

First of all, the past two years the website has not crashed, they just sold out really quickly. Secondly, locals are able to get tickets leading up to DLD on multiple occasions, sometimes all day. Thirdly, what does golden ticket bottles have to do with anything? I am simply stating that the bottle share aspect does not have be done away with simply because a brewery sells reservations online for an event.

Because it was 11AM and all but about 10 of us had left hours before and they were going to open the doors and start the actual party. Sure I could have left it, and maybe I will next time, but I figured rather than leave it to chance, I'd make sure that the owner got it back. The easier thing would have been to do nothing, and if I'm going to get berated for trying to help out another fella, well, I guess I'll think hard about taken the easy road next time.

The FIBS with the Proprietors actually were first in line. We set up at 7, and were second. I don't know where you're getting they showed up at 4:30 or 5 from. As far as the older Gentleman, his name is Chuck and he is 82 years old, as well as a Korean War Veteran. If you bring an 82 year old War vet with you next year I would hope people would say Thank you for your service instead of Bitching.
