Laid low today but did finally grab a four pack of these...
Local (ish) and while not your typical dipa hop bomb, still quite pleasant.

    New RIS Sunday,

This has been another great day of fine posts on NBS. Nice to see participation growing and thanks to all the NBS leadership that keep it alive.

To cap the night as I sit by the fire watching mindless Alaskan survival shows and football, I am enjoying this nice surprise from Otter Creek:

Cheers to a productive week to all.

Good evening BA. I inherited the "he said" twins this weekend. Trying the Baltic Porter first. Not horrible and worth a try if you can find it. Review forth coming. Trying to hold off on the Belgian until next Sunday.

3 new ones for me today. The first was a disaster. I saw it in World Market and couldn't resist... It tasted like pure yeast and lemon, way too aggressive and gross. It looked a deep yellow, almost like a bodily fluid.

So, I had to redeem myself and my mouth. Turned to this new offering from Newcastle. Drinkable but not all that amazing. It had a good maltiness but it was missing something.

And finished the new beer adventure with my wife, Choklat from Southern Tier. It was a very chocolaty beer, with a good boozy kick to it. It was tasty, but I agreed with my wife when she said it wasn't as good as Center of the Universe's El Duderino. It will be the one I had today that will be worth revisiting.

I did not anticipate trying a new beer today, but I was over at my friends' house this evening and was offered an Alaskan Winter Ale. It is a style that I was not familiar with, but I really enjoyed it. It went down very easy and the spruce added a nice touch. It was a very different flavored beer than I am accustomed to and that made it even better

Had my family over for football and dinner...split the following with my brother - all new ones. Needless to say, I was quite buzzed for dinner...

I would rank them as follows:

    1) Olde Rabbits Foot - smooth, roasty, and delicious
    2) The Dissident - tangy, tart, wine like
    3) Yankee Swap - complex, very sweet, HOTHOTHOT
    4) The Reverend - unique, pretty tasty but a bit boring

OK...so I just watched this video all the way through while drinking an Old Rasputin (Russian/Russian, no?). Fantastic beer and fantastic performance of this concerto!

Am fairly new to Rachmaninoff but 3 requires a depth of understanding and intensity from the pianists that can coax some incredible music from a concerto that is so full of passion it can overwhelm. I know it does me.

Have probably heard both #2 & 3 multiple dozens of times...still amazing to watch someone like her do it though. The beer makes it more intense:slight_smile:
