2013 4 Elf beers with off flavors...

This years BB Plead is fucking phenomenal. Might have moved into my top spot.

Beer is Dark is really good as well for what it is. Nothing too special but made well. No off flavors.

I'll be poppin' more bottles as the holiday season progresses.

 

My bottle of ****** Blood has some irony character and taint smell.

 

Had this year's BBPt5 last night, and I think I had a bad bottle. Taste was off and was sort of thin mouthfeel, which I was pretty surprised because it was so different than the past few years- which I loved.

I am glad a lot of the reviews are positive so hopefully it was just the one bad one vs. prevalent in this year's batch.

 

Was it silver wax or bronze? Probably the silver, right?

 

It was bronze. What was the difference? I had silver last year...

I had a '12 and '13 BBPlead last night (non-pappy version) along with '13 Long John Doughnut and a 3 Legs Porter. All were outstanding and tasted nearly the same on tap.

Coincidentally, I am having a rough morning today.

 

Here we go again with the infection...

 

No off flavors here. '13 BBPt5 is as good as ever, BB Donut was free of any infection, & Wild Things was just as delicious out of the bottle as it was on tap. I have never had a bottle of "non-Aigre" Pt5 that had any flavors close to "sourness". I didn't even think the damn Aigre Plead was sour.

 

the BA donut beer on tap was jacked (no way it wasnt, and thats not me being a snob, it literally tasted like green apples & cider) but I didnt have the bottle.

 

Well, except the ones that are less hoppy or are thin and artifical tasting.

 

This is precisely my experience as well.

 

Anyone else notice this on the BB 666 Sarsaparilla?

 

BB Pt5 2013 is even better than BB Pt5 2012. I had a tasting of 2012 while we were in line for the bottles and then had BB Pt5 2013 on tap at the party and it was a much richer taste than the 2012.

I've had Beer is Dark 13th Anniversary as well in bottles and it was exceptional. Nothing particularly world class about it but I'd give it a good solid 4.25 to 4.5 out of 5. The mouthfeel is so smooth on it and there is a nice velvety, chocolately taste to the beer. Glad I bit the bullet and bought 5 bottles of it.

 

I read this entire post with the actual Mortal Kombat theme music playing. Made it more betterer.

 

any you fellas near Marshall looking to trade some locals for the leftover raspberry matriculate or BA 666 that was just put on sale. I got an extra central waters coffee I was lookin to share this weekend but I fell asleep in the cold like a homeless junkie. BM me, and why not do it on your cellphone while making a BM (I'm 10 years old).

 

Dark Horse clarified that there was no Pappy version of BBPlead. They simply ran out of silver wax and switched over to bronze. They stated explicitly on Facebook that everything was aged in Heaven Hill barrels.

 

That's natural. He had hemochromatosis and ate a lot of sauerkraut.

 

My bottle of '13 BBPT5 tasted like '12 did on tap at the party; which I thought '12 on tap was better than '13 on tap. Yes, did side-by-side. I'll comment about more bottles once I've tried them.
