It seems that special releases cause problems and happiness at the same time. How does it make you feel? What was your worst or best experience with "Chasing" your favorite or most sought-after beers? Cheers!

I'm new to the 'chase' so it's both exciting, in that there's so much to discover and so many beers to try, but it's frustrating in that I live in a rural area that rarely sees limited releases. Lots of walleye in west-central Minnesota. Whales? Not so much.

It makes me broke more than anything else.

Drinking good beer makes me excited.
Fortunately, there are hundreds of good beers to chose from off the shelf at the couple of shops I frequent. I've never felt the need to chase after any particular beer.

I got my hands on 2 4 packs of BCBS so I will say the chase is more exciting than frustrating. It would have been the other way around if I didn't get it. As bad as the chase is for some craft beers, the chase for any good limited bourbon is much worse.

    Excited.

Tasting the rareness is what it's all about.

No need to chase. For me, it would be a waste of time and money.

"Chase" conjures the image of a crazy Collie streaking after a car and barking madly at some offending Goodyear. "Search for" is more composed and structured, maybe. I eventually get to try most everything, so patience is what I would advise. As others have said, in many various posts, there's good beer to be had ALL of the time! Cheers.

both, the chase and anticipation is exciting but frustrating if you don't acquire what you wanted. I missed out on bcbw and bcbs cofee but did get bcbs.

I love the chase and get disappointed when I don't get what I want...

    Right now is BCBCS..

Frustrating on the wallet. I can start my "chase" and with me having a bad case of ADHD, I always find other things to put in the shopping cart.
I'm giving up my chase for Palate Wrecker as my local shop isn't expecting it for a few more weeks. Looks like it's going everywhere else except NorCal for a while.
My company coming up for Christmas from San Diego is going to bring me a couple sixers to pacify my "needs"...HA!

The only beer I've ever truly chased was BCBS this past Black Friday. I stood in line at Binny's for 2 hours, and then a couple friends and I drove around and hit up a few extra stores.

I only do this because BCBS and its variants are my true favorite among rarer beers. I'll hook up a trading partner if I can with some extras, but I drink the rest of it.

That said, it was exciting seeing what every store after Binny's had left since at that point we were no longer guaranteed anything.

It's always frustrating chasing beers and no one ever enjoys standing in a line, especially when it's cold.

That said finding rare beers is always exciting and actually drinking them is even better.

I would not call it chasing but I pop into the bottle shop about twice a month. If I see a beer that has been highly touted on any of these threads I consider that a lucky break for me. (I usually shop for beer at the local grocery where selection is good but not that good) I actually make a list from my thread browsing here. I know that's not the same as chasing whales but it feels the same. =) I have had a terrific year of beer & thank you all for your good taste.

I feel like a naggy old bitch when I keep bugging the stores I frequent about special releases, but then they save some for me and I am happier then a little kid on christmas morning.

I check my bottle shop a coupla times a week (their delivery days, 'natch) and see what came in, which is exciting. I don't feel like I'm really chasing anything, but if something major slipped by on my watch, I would feel pretty frustrated.

I only am excited when I'm on the road to picking up something I really want that I know is at the store and available. Otherwise, it is more of a bother.

I'd rather just appreciate what is actually available, and if I get to try new releases that is a bonus.
