I'm aware of the benefits of using a glass, and the many downsides of drinking straight from the bottle, but sometimes I just don't want to dirty up a glass and have to clean it later. Besides, I like the way a bottle of beer feels in my hand.

I almost always use a glass but am not above drinking a good ipa straight from the bottle. Is that so wrong?

I'd never drink an IPA from the bottle but thats just me. Only beers I'd drink straight from the can or bottle are beers Ive had many many times or beers that are not top quality.

As many would contend, this is a crime. I on the other hand feel you should do what you want. If its a matter of washing a glass, maybe you should invest in a dishwasher? haha

    Always when drinking good beer.
When I drink a Coors Lite or some such shit in a social setting I don't bother. A can works.

I generally only pour dubbels/tripels/quads and porters/stouts into a glass.

I drink beer from cans sometimes, but never from the bottle. I actually like IPAs straight from the can.

A large percentage of the time I will, unless it's some kind of shit macro beer that will taste like crap whether it's straight outta da can or bottle.

No, it does not make you wrong. Beauty, or taste in this case, is really in the eye of the beholder. Just because someone else contends that they get more out of the experience by drinking from a glass does not lessen your experience when you drink from the bottle or can. Anyone who insists you must do it the way they do in order to have an enjoyable experience is speaking nonsense.

Like you, I usually pour into a glass, but at times a bottle does feel good. I play softball during the summer/fall and while I still bring good beer, (sorry Mich golden, we had a good run, but never again) I am not going to pour it into a glass just so I can get a "better" experience. I go with the bottle. There are many factors to be considered when answering your question.

Sometimes at a party, especially when outside, I drink from the bottle. It's not like I have to geek out on the flavor/aroma every time I drink, even though I *do* love that aspect of advocacy. However, recently, at a party, I was given an empty wine glass at my table setting, and I proceeded to fill it with a can of Ten Fidy. I was asked, don't I want a beer glass? Edumacation followed for them, wanted or not.

Edit: "beer glass" meant pilsner glass or pint glass, to this family.

Drinking out of a glass makes me drink more slowly which lets me better appreciate a beer. I can enjoy a good beer right from the bottle, but drinking straight out of a bomber makes me feel like an alcoholic and drinking straight from a 12oz bottle is too similar to the times I drink BMC at a barbecue where the goal is to drink all day.

I'd rather pour in a glass if at all possible, but I'm not going to ignore a perfectly good beer for lack of glassware.

Unless I am knocking back a 40oz of Schlitz, I always use a glass. Ergo, I always use a glass.

Here's where I could get scientific on you and explain why there IS a difference in experience, and look like a hypocrite.

Bottle is fine for most lagers imho, I prefer a glass but for a simple lager I am OK with a bottle

I'm coming around to drinking hoppy beers out of a can - sometimes they just seem hoppier from a can.

I will drink out of the bottle when its something I'm just going to slug down to quench my thirst or if I'm outside doing some work or grilling and can't be bothered to grab a glass.

Most times if I'm going to sit down and relax and enjoy a beer, I want it in an appropriate glass.
