One thing about Bell's that is strange to me is that they are a bigger brewery than Founders, yet Founders consistently puts out barrel aged beers with Backwoods, KBS and at least one Backstage beer a year. I personally think Bell's does barrel aging in an amazingly balanced way and just wish there was more of it available. Straight up barrel aged Expedition in bottles would be nice.

Perhaps, like New Glarus, they're more interested in making solid beer for everyone than catering to beer nerds.

pretty sure it was from the 12/2012 batch. It was delicious. Chatham Tap had it, and they were doing 16oz pours of it.

And Fischmans had it on tap a week ago...wonder if these were from a new batch or old?

When they put something out, do they wait for it all to be gone from the cooler before they put in bottles of something else? Because if that's how it is I guess we all better buy those Kalamazoo IPA bombers, even though it's a pretty boring beer.

This was a pretty sneaky move on Bell's part last year IMHO. Released the 750's and after the mad rush calmed down all of a sudden the 4 packs were released a few weeks later at the same price. Will be interesting to see how this gets released this year. Either way, I'm in.......................still a fan

It's a flat, boring drive (where in the midwest isn't though?) and the probable lake-effect snow you'll have endure in both directions should also be enough to make you want to cancel any sort of plan to go for it. The beer is not worth it. Stay put and keep picking up BCBS that's supposed to be sitting on shelves until April.

Full disclosure: I only said that because I really don't want my trip this year having to turn into a shitshow race to get up there.

I was going to say, how boring can a drive be with FFF and Greenbush on the way?

I'm making the trek this year. Thread was helpful as I didn't really pay attention last year. Have 2 bottles from the 12/28/12 bottling at home. Bell's always brings kegs to Cleveland for CLV Beer Week so I at least get 1 shot at it. Had 3-4 pours of the 2012 batch and it was amazing.

If you remember send me a bm when it hits, I really don't want to miss out. And don't worry I'm bringing any mules with just me and love of beer.

I'll let my Michigan brethren know when I do. Those FIB's will have to get sloppy seconds while they suck down all their proprietors :grinning:
