Nothing beats a lively thread about a beer that was secretly released a few times in the past that may or may not be released again any time soon.

If it happens, you'll know about it. Just keep your eyes on the trade forums because that's usually where the cat is let out of the bag.

We could always "cry wolf" so that when it actually hits shelves the FIBs have already made several fruitless trips to Kalamazoo.... Nevermind, I don't want to encourage an influx of FIBs to Kalamazoo. :stuck_out_tongue:

people talk about black note like it's an annual release, but there is no rhyme or regularity or formal statement from bell's that the 12oz bottle release was anything but a one-off.

Last year didn't the release of 12 oz bottles coincide with a week long beer convention?

I know, why would they want to make a beer with the quality/ popularity of KBS, BCBS, ect. every year and make boatloads of profit? (Especially when theyre brewing the base beers that go into the barrels anyway) just silly

Do people from MI really hate us from IL that much? I have a few non-ba friends living in MI and they don't seem to hate me...that much

yeah but when it comes to that point and the cat's out of the bag it'll already be too late, by the time I make it up there i'm screwed anyway.

Many will jump to the conclusion that breweries make "boatloads of profit" on beers such as KBS, BCBS and Black Note though they have very little to back up this notion. Once you add in the additional time, space, material and man hours required to produce a beer such as this, there is a good chance Bell's would have made more money pumping out more of their year round offerings. Year round offerings pay the bills and allow breweries to produce beers such as Black Note.

The only photo I saw on FB was of "newly arrived bourbon barrels" Didn't say they were filled.

Financially that makes perfect sense, the time, space and materials used to make these brews can't be cheap. I think most people don't understand that part. That's why people that complain they can't get kbs, black note etc...should be buying more year rounds from these guys, the more you support their staple brands the more money they have to brew the specialty limited things.

Edit: not trying to preachy but it's really true. Stock up on two hearted or centennial ipa or whatever regularly, then there will be more kbs and bn for everyone.

I was going to post something similar to this last night, so thank you for doing it.

I've been under the impression that BA offerings also suffer a non-trivial amount of shrinkage, between angel's share and barrels just plain going bad. Exposure to oxygen is a bitch. I may be wrong... just the impression I get listening to people who know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
