Just finished off Jack Abbey's Kiwi Rising and it was like a revelation. After drinking IPA's/ales, stouts, and porters for the last few months, this was such a nice change of pace. Can anyone recommend some other lagers/pils that are similar to this brew?

Not similiar but try some Jever, Czechvar, or EKU Pils on tap. All very nice.

Firestone Walker Pivo Pils is a desert island beer for me.

Trading for a growler of @OldeMeckbrew Copper would be a wise choice. I love their growlers and the beer is pretty damn tasty too.

Never had any JAck's Abbey stuff. But Weihenstephaner munich helles lager is fabulous. Recently I had DFH Piercing Pils and it was very very nice.

Never had any Jack Abbey's, but Great Lakes makes some really good lagers.

Sly fox makes a nice pils in their Pikeland Pils and a good Golden Helles Lager. Also Great Lakes make a nice pils, the Wright Pls and a nice lager in their Dortmunder Gold.

Jack's Abbey makes great beers and Kiwi Rising is awesome, but I'm not sure it really has that much in common with a Pils, definitely a full on IPA hop profile, but it is a lager. I do also enjoy a hoppy pils though and Victory Prima Pils, and Sam Adams Noble Pils are a great place to start. The whole Jack's Abbey lineup is worth checking out as well.

Love the hop aroma on top of clean malt profile on kiwi rising. Very nice. Agreed, it's a nice change of pace from the IPA scene. I haven't yet seen any other Jacks Abby beers available in NY.

I can't since I've not had it, but if you get anything from Great Divide out there I recommend the Hoss (marzen) and Nomad (pilsner). I drank a ton of those over the summer/fall. Another one from Colorado is Avery Kaiser, imperial Oktoberfest. Stupid good. And if you can get it, Unita's Tilted Smile imperial pilsner is friggin' delicious.

Never had it either. My recommendations for pale lagers: Stoudt's Gold (Munich helles), Stoudt's Pils, Spaten (Munich helles), Penn Gold (Munich helles), Penn Kaiser Pils. Some might scoff at this next one, but Moosehead Lager out of cans is a very good macro pale lager. I'd consider it my house beer, if I had a house

Firestone Walker Pivo Pils is an awesome hoppy Pils. Also Wolverine State Brewing's Gulo Gulo is worth checking out too.

Didn't know about Wolverine State Brewing til I saw this post. Look forward to stopping in next time I head over to Ann Arbor. Did you have any of that Massacre bourbon barrel dark lager? Sounds interesting.

My problem with lagers now is that they seem so watery. There isn't enough there. I had Chocolate Covered Raspberry Lager from CCB this weekend and it just felt so... thin I guess.

lagers and pils are both fine styles. they are by far my go to beers for pairing with food. they play a great supporting role to so many types of meals or snacks, can be full flavored, and are usually clean on the palate. i like good ol' sam adams boston lager and all lagers/pils by new glarus like two women, totally naked, hometown blonde, edel pils, etc. have heard lots of good about great lakes but never tried them.

This. And a DIPL at that. As chrismyhre said above, I hope the OP isn't getting the idea that KR is a great introduction to "lagers" in general. I'm not hating on JacksAbbey, by no means, I've loved everything I've had from them so far. IPLs (super-hopped lagers) and any BBA-lagers are, to steal a phrase from a vet on here, lagers made for hop-lovers. And 'imperial pils' is an oxymoron if I ever heard one. More power to brewers for creating new stuff, and I agree they belong in their own new style, because they are emphatically not in the general tradition of the lager style (what is it, 500-600 years or whatever?). I just fear that people are moving towards saying things like "German/Czech lagers are so bland, but KiwiRising is where it's at for lagers". Make no mistake, you are talking about truly different styles if you say that. And if you think that Weihenstephaner Original is bland, then you just don't like lagers, and should move on. Would rather people say "I don't enjoy standard lagers, but I love a good hoppy IPL". At least there's some consistency in that approach.
All the beers mentioned by DerekP and utopiajane and kismet above are fantastic lagers. A few of the pilsners are relatively hoppy, if that's the only thing that matters. Hope this didn't all come off as negative towards anyone or any beer -- just wanted to (hopefully) clarify for anyone that might think that "appreciating lager/pils" is all about beers like BBA-Massacre and KiwiRising. /end rant.
