I can do bigfoot fresh or aged. Sucuba is fantastic fresh IMO and just typing this makes me want to drink my other 1 tonight. I have a '12 Behemoth in the fridge right now and will prob drink it this weekend so can't comment yet. ST Backburner is also good fresh but a little too sweet for my tastes.

Honestly, King Henry. It was so much better fresh than it was the past two times I had it. But I guess for a normal barleywine that's still be produced, probably Insanity.

Green Flash Barleywine, great aged and probably great fresh, I've only had a 2010 vintage which was mind-blowing and I bet it would be great fresh too

Berkshire Brewing Companies "Holidale". Each year I mean to grab a few for the cellar. They're so good right off the shelf though that I keep drinking the ones I buy to age, saying Ill go back and get more, till they're eventually out of season and I'm out of Holidale.

MoAS is incredible fresh, the bourbon notes were huge. MoAS is also incredible with time on it, although honestly I think I prefer it fresh (have never had it over a year old, but will someday).

I have agree with you. When it comes out, it is a brutally bitter IPA with huge malt finish and akin to a Bigfoot with more bite. Give it just one year: a hophead's dream barley wine.

If your first dance with the devil put you off, give it a second shot.

Bigfoot is delicious, however, I have never consumed it immediately. I have always waited until I got home from the grocery store.

But, I would add Uinta's Anniversary Ale into the mix. Just picked up a 4 pack of it. It's really quite good.

I'm a fan of Sucaba fresh. I don't age anything and Barleywine is meant to drink fresh. Enjoy the burn!!

SMUTTYNOSE get it now! buy multiplies! has not been produced in 3 years. 10.6 percent this year and they have lightened the grain bill. Hoppy and smooth right now, cant imagine what a few years may do to it. Alcohol? undetectable.

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. Nothing like that bracing slap of hop bitterness fresh from the brewery

I'm just really starting to love barleywines but I can't believe nobody has said Bourbon County Barleywine.
