So each time I've used the vacu vin (on bcbs), the beer ends up overflowing up into the vacu vin and the stopper becomes unsealed after about a day or two. What am I doing wrong?!

You can't use the vacu vin stoppers on carbonated beverages. Try a champagne stopper.

I use a flip style stopper. Vacu vin is for non carbonated wine to prevent oxidation.[IMG]

You are using a vacu vin on beer.. that's what's wrong.. don't. Use the stoppers mentioned above, one other note check them occasionally every 24hours because the pressure can cause them to pop off inside your fridge sometimes.

or just drink the whole bottle and problem solved

I'm adding vanilla beans to bcbs and letting it sit for a few days so it's not like I can't finish the beer, haha.

Food Network makes a great wine and champagne stopper that works great! They come in a 2 pack and you can get it at Kohl's.

Ive used a vacu vin on beer many times. It works fine as long as you don't try and suck ALL the air out. Just be sure to drink the beer in 24 hours and its perfectly fine.

Find a buddy that homebrews and use his capper. It works perfectly for adding vanilla beans to beer.

i've used a vacu vin on beer (highly carbonated beer at that) many times with no problems, so i have no idea what you're doing wrong.

I use it as directed but the top doesn't stay on for longer than half a day and the beer turns pretty flat (it's bcbs so there's not much to begin with).

Do you stop pumping when you hear the clicking? I don't see how the liquid from a partial bottle can raise up into the stopper, even if you might over-pump it. That's strange.
