If you have a bottling wand you can shove it in the end of your cobra tap. I recommend removing the spring-loaded tip of the bottling wand and controlling the flow with the cobra tap; just be sure to have your regulator very low (2-3 psi) and chill your bottles if possible. Also, I would only recommend bottling this way if you plan to drink the beer fairly soon (within a couple days, I would think), otherwise you have a pretty heavy risk of oxidation. Ideally, you want to use a beer gun so you can easily purge the bottles with CO2 and fill the bottles with a closed system, but this method works in a pinch.
It's this... http://www.blichmannengineering.com/products/beergun It's a piece of equipment used to bottle beer from kegs with minimal CO2 loss and oxygenation.
A couple of tips: crank up your pressure a smidgen the night before, bottles at least as cold as your beer (colder is better), work fast, and limit your self to a dozen'ish at a time (works best with two people), and unlike the video you should wear camo .
I use a counter-pressure filler, i find it has advantages and disadvantages over the beer gun, but its my method of choice.
I've only done it a dozen or so times, but I just use a racking cane inserted into the end of a picnic tap. Chill the bottles good and I raise the tip of the cane as the bottle fills so foam over flows and doesn't drop back down into the bottle as you remove the cane, then put the cap on. It was a bit tricky at first but as long as you lower your keg press down to near zero, it usually goes pretty smooth. Had a bottle last about 5 weeks and actual was shipped in the mail twice and still tasted good and had good carbonation.
Me and a buddy kinda made our own filler with different attachments for growlers and bottles, I wish I had pics with me at work.
I'd like to see when you get a chance. I was pondering the same thing, something I could use to fill not only 2 liter growlers, but 1 liters and bottles as well. Is it just the stopper that changes?
I only change the stopper, my friend has replacements for his copper pipe that actually goes into the bottle or growler. its a simple set up, ive been meaning to post it up here before, just being lazy
Anyone ever try it like this guy? http://morebeer.com/products/stainl...-faucet.html?gclid=CLaJ08ya7bsCFYlDMgodWikA9Q
Nice kristougher, what's the number stopper for the growler? I assume a 1 liter growler would need another size? I actually have one of these already. Isn't really the best on it's own, but I think if I add the tube/stopper, it would help a lot. You can take it one step further by adding that "pressure release valve" (needle for basketball pump) in the video inchrisin posted above.
Not sure the number ill double check when I get home. And yeah I have to release it a little to let pressure out manually.
