While I've never had any experience with this trader, it is cool to at least see somebody show up and detail their side of the situation instead of just disappear.

At this point, the information is out there and people will do with it what they feel. It seems to be true that you have made a number of successful trades which people have been very happy with. At the same time, while you, and others may not consider your occasional tardiness to qualify as "bad trader" behavior, it certainly indicates "inconsistent trader" behavior. You downplay the significance of 3 extremely late packages out of 300 total trades, but I'm sure for many people, that is 3 times too many. In particular, the 3 individuals who waited multiple weeks for their boxes likely were not comforted by the fact that you made good on your other 297 trades. As is so often true, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, and past behavior suggests that for every 100 trades you make, one box is going to be an absolute chore and a huge waiting game for the recipient. While the other 99 boxes may be spectacular, each potential trading partner needs to decide for themselves whether the risk is worth it.

So easy to fix - if you trade with mikeyv35, just have him send first. If he's late, no big deal to just wait it out then.

I've done 282 trades & never - not once, never, ever, ever, never - sent boxes weeks later, nor figured that due to my long & distinguished trading history that I can blow people off, not bother to answer queries, & just generally act like a bad trader. Repeatedly.

Others can make nice about it, but if you can't get boxes out on time or bother to respond to communication - DON'T TRADE. PERIOD.

And why would you be doing ten trades while moving? Or not communicate for six full weeks? As of right now you are a bad trader due to once again not holding up your end of a trade until called out publicly. That's a sad way to do any kind of transaction.

If in fact it is true that you failed to respond to someone's messages for six weeks that you owed a box to despite logging on to this site either makes you a supremely arrogant and inconsiderate trader or a bad one.....

I've said it over and over again.... Your trade reputation is only as good as your worse trade..

Mike already said in his post that if people want not to trade with him due to the tardiness in a few instances, which he admits freely, and apologizes for, then that is their right.

Why you now feel the need to jump on a man who is doing the right thing, has made no bullshit excuses, and said better and with more right exactly what you now say, is baffling. Perhaps you will explain how your post is any help to the OP, this thread, or our community.

    "Done the right thing"????

Well, this thread has clearly run it's course. But I'm at a loss as to what you're trying to accomplish. Defending a trader that has had to be called out - 2 or 3 times - in order to fulfill a trading obligation? Fool me once & apologize, make it right, OK. But to do it repeatedly? Then that person is a bad trader. No amount of half-assed apologies from the offender can change that fact.

There is no one to police trading except the trading community. Letting people get away with this kind of bullshit, repeatedly, is completely unacceptable, I don't care who they are or how many trades they've made.

Tardiness is one thing. Lack of communication is another. If someone is left twisting in the wind because the other party feels they "have a solid reputation and will get around to it," the latter person is negatively impacting the "community." Not the person calling him out or harping on it.

I've never traded with Mikeyv35, but there's a lot to be said of a person that gives his side of the story and doesn't try to sugar coat it.

Granted I'd be frustrated with waiting for a box, and I have no problem calling someone out for being late, but it sounds as if he's 100% on completing his trades. If you fear his punctuality, don't trade with him or have him ship first.

There's also a lot to be said of a person who evades someone for 6 weeks until they are called out publicly.

I am not sure why you've been hyper defensive about anyone voicing a negative opinion about this situation. Particularly in a situation like this that falls in a grey area, there are bound to be differing opinions. My statement was mainly with regard to Mike's second post in which he seemed to downplay what he was "guilty" of, stating "One more thing, you guys are hilarious! I am not on any bad trader lists because I have never stuck anyone on beer, check my history which I know all of you do. All I have ever been guilty of is being very late on 2-3 occasions out of 300." I thought it was fair to articulate why some may see that tardiness as problematic and even indicative of "bad trader" practices. I understand that your take on this situation differs from mine, and that is fine. No need to police all opinions inconsistent with your own. In general, you seem to be a cool guy who adds a good deal of useful content to this site, so I hope this doesn't come across with the wrong tone.

Just wanted to provide an update to everybody who is following this thread...

Mikeyv35 BM'd me last night and apologized for his extreme tardiness. He has promised to ship out the box he owes me later this week.

If he comes through this week, then everything will have (eventually) worked out and I will be satisfied. It may have taken a while, but if Mikeyv35 and I eventually get to the end point we originally agreed on, then I'll be happy.

I will vouche for Mikey, did two trades with him, never had any problems. The IP one was pretty cool, he's a nice and very generous guy. I will trade with him again for sure. Shit happens, and it's only beer after all. But I agree with the OP on the lack of communication. I'm sure even Mikey would agree he could have done better on that side of things. Cheers!

This. There's no amount of explaining that excuses avoiding communication for that long. I don't care what's going on in your life – if you have time to log onto BA repeatedly, you have time to respond to a BM about a trade in progress, even if only to indicate why your side is delayed.

Confounded Mr. Sysyphus is a great beer, I was lucky enough to have a generous friend share it with me this summer. Just didn't want this thoughtful act mikeyv bestowed on masterski to get lost in the drama.

Haha yeah but it wasn't what the rarity board wanted. It could have been brewed with unicorn tears, rarer than red diamonds, and tasted better than a Shaun Hill and Jean Van Roy collab., it wasn't what the legends in their own minds wanted.
