Deep Ellum IPA Props

    I just spent a week around the Dallas area, Addison to be exact, for work. I didn't have much time to explore but I was lucky enough to find plenty of Deep Ellum IPA. As I relax at home in Cali drinking some DE IPA I brought back in my luggage I have to say this is a great IPA. Good fruity notes, well balanced and the right amount of bitterness in the back end.

    Agreed...great IPA. Between this, Mosaic, and Endeavor...DFW has access to some great local freshies that are easily acquired. $$$

    More people would chime in on this one but DE pissed off a lot of people. Entire threads were devoted to it.

    Being an outsider I am not aware of anything other than good beer from them.

    Good. Beer is beer...I liked their double chocolate cherry stout.

    From my experiences with recent tap takeovers/events in the area, the IPA is the only beer I like from them right now and that's great that you enjoy it. Though personally prefer Sucks or Mosaic IPA for easily available other options around here.

    It used to be amazing. Now it's just kinda good. I'll still drink it on occasion but I'd rather have a Cali IPA over that one.

    I love mosiac hops. Which I found that one.

    I only got the chance to go to WholeFoods and some big liqour store that pretty much sucked, specs I think it was called. I asked one of the workers and he suggested Shiner Bock. I thanked him for his time but didn't ask him for anymore recommendations.

    Strange. Most specs are pretty good. But I don't know about any in Dallas

    The specs was a new one in Addison. One guy said they haven't received all their stock, so maybe that's why. I just found the selection not to be that good and more expensive than wholefoods, which has fair prices but not cheap.

    Yeah, not all Specs are the same, and WF usually has a good selection anyway. Though, it is ridiculous that they could not point out a better Texas beer than Shiner. The BA's here offer you an apology for that :slight_smile: Glad you enjoyed the Deep Ellum though. If you ever get another chance in Dallas or Texas, try to track down some Community, and post a thread for some suggestions. Lots of people like to help around here.

    I found a lot of other good beers I can't get in Cali like Breakfast Stout, Centennial IPA, Modus Hoperandi, Southern Tier, and Resin. I was just hoping the guy could point me in the right direction for local stuff.

    Definetly want to go back and check out Austin.

    They announced on their Facebook page this week that they are finally going to have Amarillo hops in the hop bill again. Should be interesting to see the difference.

    I find it incredibly annoying that Deep Ellum IPA changes so much. I never know what I'm going to get when I buy the beer.
