I assume everyone on here is really into their beer, but how high does it rank in your life?

For me, my fiancee, my job, my love of food, and even my desire not to gain weight come first (thus I limit myself to only a few beers a week). Beer is probably my number two hobby, behind cooking and eating, but skiing is a close third.

For others, like the Bros. and for the brewers on here - beer IS their job, and I assume it ranks a bit higher in their lives.

Thoughts? Who can relate to the following?

Beer is my #2 hobby, after my obsession with cars.. But hobbies fall way below family, girlfriend, friends and career.

It ranks pretty low. It's an indulgent hobby. I don't need it and would be okay without it. I can name many many other things that don't fall into both of those categories in my life.

It's my second biggest hobby after music.
When I have disposable income, it either goes to CDs or beer, but if I don't have money then I don't drink.

Wife/family/friends coming first are a given.

Otherwise it's tough to rank them. Hmmmmm - there are hobbies such as running/riding which I think are probably more important, because there are health benefits (excluding some drivers on 9W). Probably:

    1. Running
    2. Riding
    3. Eating out
    4. Beer
    5. Cooking
    6. Skiing (if I lived in CO or somewhere like that, this would be much higher)
    7. Videogames (more of a treat these days)

Totally agree with the last two on here. If i could ski year round, it would rank higher than beer, but since I live in Jersey, I can only take occasional trips out west/ north for quality skiing.

And videogames - I miss being in college.

I love to drink a good beer but its in no way a priority. Wife, dogs, bills, etc. come before I buy beer.
I don't know how it would rank as a hobby because all of my hobbies allow me to drink while doing them.
Favorite hobby is disc golf, then Xbox , guns , then shooting, then fishing, and cooking, and then I guess beer.

EXCLUDE: Guns and shooting while drinking, not safe.

My wife, dogs, friends, family of course come first. I'd also say Video games, but that's because it's my career  Beer is definitely up there, even more so now that I have taken up this whole trading thing. And basketball is what keeps me in shape, so I can drink more beer.

Commitments are always first and that includes maintaining a healthy weight so I love it but I can't just overdo indefinitely.

Thanks guys i feel like an asshole now for ranking beer so high...
As a child i was a collector of everything from trading cards, minerals, sports cards, comic books EVERYTHING. Naturally growing out of those things i found a passion in collecting beer and it's fun to see my cellar expand with some of the rarest and most sought after beers ever brewed. Not to mention drinking them. I enjoy beer releases, visiting brewpubs and all of the awesome people I've met either through trading, serving them beer at work, or sitting next to them at Half Acre. Plus the knowledge i have of beer is the reason i moved from my position as a busboy to a server at an upscale gastropub/restaurant with 90+taps where i make 3 or 4 times what i used to make.
So yes its my job, #1hobby, and passion.
I am an athlete, draw, and love food right behind beer just for the record

I think it's a pretty big deal. It isn't going to replace family or friends, but it's a catalyst for a lot of my favorite things.

In terms of hobbies, I'd say beer is tied for #1 with mountain biking because they compliment each other nicely and take place at different times of day usually. Hobbies after are music and snowboarding

It's great how my 2 biggest hobbies are focused on booze and cars.. 2 things that should never be combined. Unless I am driving home a large beer haul.

It's my main hobby. Whenever we go out to eat, I either check the restaurant's website or call ahead to see what's available. If they don't have something I want, we look for other places to eat. When we plan a vacation, the first thing I do is pull up craft beer stores in the area and research each one. When I find the one with the best selection, I call ahead or e-mail the beer guy and give him a list of what I want and see if he can help me get a hold of them.

My wife hates it, but whatever.

It's my only real $ spending hobby, single, no career yet I work too much, beer is probably too high on priority list.
