    Family> Friends> Music> Beer > everything else.

And like the couple guys above, Snowboarding would probably be in there too, right before beer, if I lived in a better locale.

    Homebrewing is my #1 hobby.
I think it should go without saying that hobbies come after life commitments ie; family, house, job, health etc...

Yeah, the collector in me has really gotten hooked on beer. I was the same way as a kid, collecting cards, comics, action figures, etc., and while that never really completely died in me, beer has definitely become my "collecting obsession."

In terms of where I rank it, I dunno, it kind of depends on the beer. When BCBS came out, outside of work and my girlfriend, it was one of my highest priorities (as a huge GI fan and proud Chicagoan, I needed Coconut Rye). In general, it's just one of my hobbies, albeit probably the one I spend the most money on.

As others have mentioned (I believe Utopia Jane, for example), I also have to try to balance out my health (I go to the gym, so I don't want to undo all my work with beer) with beer, but I think I balance it pretty well. It's kind of hard NOT to be really into beer having so many great breweries around here!

No no no. God is beer

Beer ranks highly as a hobby of mine, I suppose, but it's really limited to drinking beer. Sure, I'd like to go to releases and travel to brewpubs and breweries and the like, but those are truly secondary concerns and fall way behind my other hobbies and commitments. For example, I would never plan a vacation around beer

Couldn't agree more. The GF doesn't care, but I feel like a dick letting it dictate everything. Occasionally, I'll just not worry about it and let her pick the places.

Ha! I've been wishing there were an 'anything goes' area on the forums so I could post a 'What other hobbies do you have' thread - Here's a sneaky way of doing just that!

After the obvious ones, family, pets, etc. - My job is beer related, but assuming you're referring to DRINKING beer, job will come first. Scratch that - career comes first. If this isn't the job I hold for the rest of my life I'll be ok, as long as I don't drift further from my calling/education, which is art and design.

So, while I won't attempt to rank them (even though this is in direct conflict with the OPs intent) here's a list of my hobbies (since that seems to be the direction this thread is going):

    Bowhunting
    Music (guitar/listening)
    Guns/Shooting
Art/Design (including pottery, illustration, graphic design...)
    Beer/Advocacy
    Videogames

Same here. What pisses off my wife more is when I ask for the beer list while at the restaurant, the server rambles off Bud, Miller, Coors Light, etc etc etc and I reply, "I'll have water."

My wife says I say it smugly.

Great Question: God, Family (Wife and my 2 girls), Friends, Work and then beer. Beer is a great passion and a great way to have interactions with others. Beer can become an issue when it's a solo sport or takes the poll position in your life. Other than that stay thirsty my friends.

My wife already accuses me of being a beer snob (she's right) and she says it's just the WAY I say it.

    I lol'd.

Agree with the OP though: I'm not going to drink just for the sake of it. Would much rather stay sober than downing watered-down light beers. There are exceptions here and there, but for the most part, I am drinking beer because I enjoy drinking quality beer, rarely because I'm jonesing to get hammered. My wife rolls her eyes at me when I look at restaurant taplist in advance of going there. I don't see why it's that bad of a thing.

Higher than I'd probably admit. Time for some changes and remind myself to enjoy beer for what it is.
Quit making such a big deal about it.

At this point, I don't even care to get snookered any more. I don't enjoy the next morning, so I couldn't tell you the last time I was hammered. However, I do like to get a little tipsy so I'm pretty fond of the higher ABV beers that I can sip on. A bomber in the 10-12% ABV range is perfect for me. There's a local German place that has 49 taps and a great selection. A couple fishbowls of strong stuff is the perfect evening for me.
