Blue was a drain pour for me after the first glass. Malt bomb and not much flavor or scent. Yellow has a great citrus taste and melon aftertaste. Yellow and Red were the best of the bunch. Both taste great but Red wins due to the intense citrus smell.

What were the numbers of the experimental hops used from Hop Head? I suspect the Red used HBC 342 due to the watermelon taste.

Is Hop Head getting plants from Select Botanicals?

Clark said these hops have never been used before! My taste buds tell me different but what do I know.

Tried Yellow tonight and it seemed similar to Blue imo - much more mild and "traditional" tasting and less in your face than Red or Green. Not bad by any means, but I liked Red a lot more and Green had a very complex, unique flavor that I'm not sure I was completely a fan of, but it was different.

Maybe not used commercially but home brewers buy and use experimental hops all the time.

Red was not HBC 342, but the hops used in Red will be released this year, so look for that one to return.

Didn't actually get any HBC 342 this time around, but with all the feedback everyone has been giving, I'm hoping it will only put us higher on the list for future years of experimental hops. Actually, really looking forward to playing around with the new German varieties, especially the "German Citra". Deutsche Sue, anyone?

For those shopping in La Crosse, my wife went to Festival Copeland at 1:30, no Xhops yet. I showed up at 7:30, sold out. Went to Festival Onalaska, sold out. Woodmans, got one of each at about 7:55. Not many left from what I could see. If you want some in La Crosse better get a move on!

Love Toppling Goliath, but honestly, I think they may need to brew and bottle more before shipping it out. This running all over 6 hours, maybe, after delivery to find sold out beers sucks. I realize it doesn't suck for them, but it does for us. JMO.

I never did get the Red, but I got the Green and really liked it. Will probably sample the blue and yellow this weekend and report back.

They give more allotment to Casanova's so people from the Twin Cities have a chance to get some as well. Makes sense.

My vote goes to Deutsche Sue (psuedoSusanne?), I am really excited to see what TG can do with any hops they get their hands on this year. German Citra, are you kidding me? Sounds delicious. Could we see a supercharged Dorothy's or even an IPL down the line? I haven't gotten my hands on Blue or Yellow yet but whatever went into Red will get my money 10 times out of 10.

I missed the first 2, but had yellow and blue last night. Yellow is world class.

I'm sorry but if Blue was a drain pour, you may be taking this beer thing a little too seriously.

Agree 100% . My wife works by Ankeny prairie trail. It was all gone in an hour. People were following the truck. Out of luck.

Thought the blue was bad, and I mean I dumped about 18ozs bad. I understand it was an experiment, but for 6.50 a bottle the blue was very bad. Please do not let this hop be used in APAs and IPAs.

What didn't you like about it? What made it worth drain pouring 18 ounces? Hard to read your post and not think you are just trying to troll.
