I didn't really drive that far. I was joking but I was thinking maybe I could find a place with a bottle for 40-50 dollars I could bring home. I checked beer menus and didn't find any place that had it in stock or maybe I did it wrong. I was hoping for some luck and advice.

I really did wnt it to get it for my wife as she loves beer with a passion but had to stay home and take care of our daughter and I was lucky enough to get to go to the Sedgewick stop for the Goose Island tap take over.

Nothing sits on the shelves in Chicago or any of its burbs. Especially Bourbon County variants as they draw people from other states on release week. Demand is simply way too high in this area. I swear that needs to be made into a sticky on this forum.

Your best bet is to pay attention to social media for tappings and bring the wife to one of those. I wouldn't suggest local option this Friday unless being manwiched by large, bearded dudes that order 3 beers at a time is your thing.

Dekalb is home to one of the most polarizing BAs in all the Great Lakes forum. Love him or hate him; he is the one known as Playa Playa.

No, no. In this case, you can very easily hate the playa. And most of us do.

Polarizing implies some people like him. I very much doubt that.

I actually stopped in Galleria last night because I knew they still had the Backyard Rye. I just got a promotion at work and decided I wanted to treat myself to something nice (even if it was overpriced).

The guy working there tried to persuade me NOT to buy it because the price was so hiked up and he thought it was a bit outrageous. I knew what I was getting myself in to, though, so I paid the $40 for the bomber and he tossed in a 12 oz regular BCS just because. So that was kind of cool.

I wonder how many who scoff @ $40 for a bottle of Prop would trade 2x Backyard or 2 4pks of variants for it without heistation.

Yeah, I know there's the principal of being oversharged by the store but still....

You'd be surprised. My corner store in Bucktown magically produced a case of Proprietor's on New Year's Eve and there are still some bottles left as of a few days ago. The price is causing this ($50), but the bottles are sitting right at the register.

Funny you mention that you found proprietors on New Years eve. I was lucky enough to score a bottle at my local spot on New Year's Eve as well. I figured it was all sold out by that time.

At least you knew what you were doing. I wonder how many people paid for that without knowing what was going on.

My buddy bought a 4 pack of the barleywine for $33 and called me immediately to tell me about it. I promptly called him a big, dumb idiot.

That's ludicrous. To be fair the guy who was working that night did sort of reek of booze and also asked me to pay in cash, sooooo.........

Did you just post about whirlyball in this thread, and then post about Flo and Santos in the whirlyball thread?
