What the hell is up with Lagunitas?

    Is it me or has the quality taken a MAJOR nosedive? Bought like 4 or 5 sixers of SUCKS, and they were terrible. Bought a sixer of Daytime, and it was terrible. Tasted cheap, and metallic, with the hops nowhere near as prominent as it has been.

    Lagunitas was easily my favorite, readily availible brewery. Now, I avoid their stuff. Has anyone else encountered this? Is this because of their growth, and now they brew nationaly? Regardless, RIP to fresh, great tasting Lagunitas.

    Sucks and Daytime JUST released. It's fresh as hell. And it is terrible. There is only one thing I can think of, and it's that the beers I'm consuming aren't being refridgerated. They sit there out in the open on pallets (whole foods), although I picked up a sixer from a coldbox at Ralphs, same deal.

    Well whatever, I'm happy you guys think everything tastes exactly the same. You guys should bake yourselves cookies with little stars on them to remind yourselves of your tasting starpower. For me, I'm just bummed the beer tastes way worse, and I can't shake the feeling it's because of their rapid expansion.

    ps- Thank god, Pizza Port started Canning. Swami's IPA and Ponto will save the DAY!!!

    Sucks seemed better last year but I don't know if that's my imagination or fact.

    Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Sucks sucked!!
    Got a six pack and gave 5 beers away to my friends..
    To me Lagunitas finishes their beers to high on final gravity...I think Sucks stops at 1.026....

    I had a Daytime 6 pack the other day and the smell was so gloriously dry-hopped! And Sucks that I just picked up were great too, if not a bit batch-variant. It seems to me that Lagunitas has always had a good deal of batch variance, whether due to freshness or otherwise. Could just be that.

    I'll just add that I had Sucks on tap last week and it didn't even really remind me of last year's batch. Sounds like YMMV but I have little/no interest in returning to a beer that I couldn't get enough of last year.

    Swami's is bomb. Haven't had Ponto from the can. Chronic is not as good as draft - too malty in a weird way (like overpowering DME flavors.)

    That said, I'm stoked. They're my favorite brewery.

    Just tried SUCKS for the first time this past weekend and it was fantastic. Smelled and tasted fresh. Come to think of it I have never had problems with their products NOT being fresh. I live down in SoCal so distribution doesn't have to go far. It could be that you're developing a cold and it has effected your taste and smell, or the shipment to your local area got hot or something before you purchased it.

    a lot of bottle variation on sucks this year, ive had great bottles as well as bad ones

    Sucks variation has been awful. I don't think I'm going to purchase any more until I hear that it's more consistent.

    Same! I had it within 7 days of bottling as well. Really, really good.

    Lagunitas' biggest problem is that they are just flat out boring. Their brewery store has the same beers as a local grocery store and they were out of most of them. Great.

    No complaints in regards to Sucks. I heard from two internal Lagunitas folks that the hop bill for Daytime is different this year because they could not secure the various experimental hops from previous batches. It still pairs well with Niner football though.
