    I think we'll hit 3000 by end of 2014.

    ditto

there are a few solid ones pretty close by, given my proximity to NYC, but I want one, like, the next town over lol

at least Capt. Lawrence, Peekskill, Brooklyn, Sixpoint, Singlecut, Kane & Carton are all within 1 hour of me

Let's enjoy it while we can. It seems like new breweries keep popping up out of the woodwork.

I have one 2 minutes from my house. Fenton Winery & Brewery. They have a few good beers on tap. Double Eminent IPA. No bottling though just local keg distribution and Growlers at the brewery.

yea i think we live in a good location...a lot of very good local breweries and distribution of all the great breweries like maine, founders, stone, cigar city, etc...now if us long islanders could get a whale or two it would be the icing on the cake

Sounds good. But for me, if that was the case, I'd weigh 400 lbs. in a year.

what's this "we" nonsense?! Long Island is the worst place on earth :-D

northern NJ means I can get anything that NJ, NY, PA or CT get with ease. Long Island is a "get to/from" nightmare 24/7. no offense of course

It wouldn't help my figure either, but I'd have to drive fewer miles to get something great from the source. There's trade offs for everything in life.

I'm just happy to know that the states of Washington and Oregon, with just 3.4% of the U.S. population, account for 13% of its breweries.

    Yes they do, unfortunately.
But whenever I catch the bubble debate being dealt, I play the growing demand card.

For anyone with money reading this:

Open one in New Baltimore, Michigan. The downtown area has a few restaurants, and the park is a short walk away.

Way, way to go before there needs to be any talk of a bubble.2700 breweries for 300 million people and 3 million square miles gives massive scope for future growth.

Now that's the kind of sales pitch that makes big things happen.

Especially considering that the craft market is only like 14% of the American beer market (quoting that number from memory). Like I said in another thread, I really wish craft brewers would put more of an emphasis on pilsner and pale ales to try and pull market share from BMC rather than trying to out IPA or out Stout another craft brewery.

You aren't going to lure a Bud drinker away from Bud Light with KBS or Pliny. But you can with Prima Pils or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It's a much more palatable transition.

So, this brings us up to an approximate 8,100 IPAs available, right?

Give or take a seasonal. Or six. :grinning:

6.5% by volume (2012) according to Brewers Association figures.

I'm not sure measuring by volume is the best way to go. I have no idea how much a case of Bud Light costs, but I'm pretty sure I've spent more on a single 12oz bottle of craft beer. Wouldn't a more appropriate unit to use to estimate U.S. market share be the dollar?

Well, that would bring price variables in (location, taxes, deposit, etc), percentage gives a consistent number to work with.
