Because this is a discussion forum. He was asking for a little input on whether or not this was worth outing someone for. Maybe after the input he receives he'll then decide to out the guy. Why do you care so much?

I care because I don't want it to happen to me, or anyone else for that matter.

Of course you are not on your own. You are probably in the majority.

There are plenty of people on BA that allow this stuff to happen and that is one reason why it is getting more frequent. No matter what you would call it, I would not want it to happen to me.

If the other side comes out and the OP is way off base, everyone will see that. If not, they get a free pass.

Trading has really gotten a lot more risky the past few years since anything short of your partner stealing your beer then using the return address on their package to burn down your house and beat your kids is passed off as life happening or as not a bad trader issue.

If you agreed on the deal and exchanged addresses that's that. A deal is a deal, there is no grey area, he backed out of the deal and cost you $25. The only way I wouldn't out him is if he reimburses you.

I kind of agree with Hanzo. At least if he rectifies it, then you could keep him quiet for now, letting him get a pass. But if he's habitual at this, then the community should know about it.

I can see not putting names out right away because mistakes happen but this sounded like a blatant well i got a better deal so ill just cancel without telling trade which is wrong in more ways then one. I actually sent OP a message as hes a great trader and told him to out the person but like he said earlier he wanted to make sure others thought this was poor practice and wanted too see if the other party would realize they were off base. I say let us know if the bad trader makes right and if not then definately out them.

Believe once a deal is agreed upon and box is in the process of shipping that is a done deal. I'd at least ask for a box of goods in return for your troubles. Shady move trying to find a better deal once it is already made. Besides the fact that it is all just BEER. Since when has this become about finding the best deal possible. Thought it was about people coming together to trade goods that both parties would be happy with, rather than trying to squeeze the most profitable deal out of someone.

I agree that at a MINIMUM he owes you the $25. On top of that he made you think a trade was done (so you stopped looking), made you package up your beer, made you drop of the package, take the risk of the package already being shipped or mishandled, plus all the time spent trying to get the box back, not to mention the obvious disappointment in the change of plans.

The trade forums do resemble more of an auction house than a trading relationship. Though the intentions made sense, the no post rule I think helped accelerate the over valuing / auctioning mentality.

I would not want to trade with this person. Please, post his name as a warning to the community.

    Who is the guy?
How many trades does he have?
Is it possible that some crazy shit really did happen and he felt obligated to take a box that he wasn't counting on?

Being that you agreed to the trade just a few days ago, have you given him an opportunity to make it right?

I agree that it might be a dick move for him to renege but to "out" someone and make him offer an explanation for us all is a bit premature.

Edit: I still think he owes you the $25, regardless

Easy. Don't back out on a trade that has already been agreed upon and after the sender has already shipped.

What? The OP was the one who got backed out on. If the OP names the guy then I won't trade with him, therefore my chances of having this happen to me are decreased.

There are 2 threads between 9AM and 2PM Pacific that would fit the bill here (and I figure I missed at least one more since I was just reading tag lines.) It would probably be unfair to postulate at this point since 1 of the 2 is legitimate. I'd probably put the numbers at 85/15 for one over the other, though.

    Oh, I misinterpreted.

But still, people are allowed to post here and reserve action until they think it's right. Why should he have to sit there by himself and decide to out a guy before he asks the community? He can do what he wants.

On these threads, why don't people out the trader initially, then send them a link to the thread (which everyone will be watching) and let them know why it was created so they have the opportunity to tell their side and make it right. I think that method (as opposed to the way this one and most work) would nurture a significantly higher level of global accountability and community. As a community, we come up with a reasonable timeframe (say, 48 hours, also included when the thread link is sent to the "bad trader") that, if they don't respond within that time frame...BAD TRADER.

This is kind of a suggested paradigm shift, but I think if we communicate more effectively as a whole, we can take this community back from these Outliers. (Why is this reading like a Mad Max remake to me all of the sudden??)

(Is it not obvious I vote for outing them?:grimacing:)

    This doesn't even make sense.

EDIT: Also, OP, out the dude. Traders need to know.

What doesn't make sense about it? I was speculating if it was that douche Adam Jackson using a new account since his original one was banned.
