    Preparing for the lovely snow today. At least I have off work.

    Everyone in our house has the day off for the impeding Snowmageddon. We're eating breakfast and watching the latest forecast on television:

    Me: "Did you hear that? We might get up to 18 inches!"

    My wife: "I'd be excited just to get 6 inches…"


    She put down her coffee, smiled, and triumphantly walked out of the room.

    I took that as my cue to start drinking.

    This was ridiculously amazing! I really wanted to be disappointed in it because the trade hypes around it, but GOOD GOD! This was the silkiest beer I've ever tasted. The blend was perfect. The coconut was just prominent enough and the alcohol was completely hidden until the end when the glass got warm. GI absolutely KILLED it with this one! My favorite, even edged out my all-time: BCBCS.

    It was written by Kristofferson, first recorded by Ray Stevens in 1969 (No. 55 on the CW charts and No. 81 in the top 100). Kristofferson recorded it in 1970 on his album. Cash also recorded it in 1970, got CMA record of the year and had a No. 1 hit with it. Kristofferson liked it because it is the song that allowed him to "quit working for a living". So Johnny Cash made another songwriter famous, pretty much.

    It's 8 degrees and with a wind chill I won't even tell you how much . . . My apartment has a draft and I am drinking Skull Splitter by The Orkney Brewing Company. What name right? Sounds like spikes and impudence. Not so. Smooth with a lingering malty sweetness and a sweet fruity lightness. Damn! [​IMG]
