so its 12:22. I took an almost two hour nap during the day. I'm trying to fall asleep. So I am drinking Brooklyn Dry Irish Stout to help me at least sleep for a few hours? What is the beer that you would consider your "nightcap" brew? Is it high ABV? Is it something that is similar to warm milk before bed?

Normally it's something heavy, but tonight it was a delicious Enjoy By! And I haven't been privileged enough to have anything by Surly if you wanna work a trade out!!

BCBS tends to do it for me if I'm looking for a nightcap.

Back in my day, it was either Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout or Weyerbacher Blasphemy. Of course, that was when the former sat on shelves for most of the year, and the latter was available year round.

Depends on what I've been drinking up until that point (if anything). But usually, a solid IPA will do just fine -- Stone IPA, Ballast Point Sculpin, Racer 5, in particular.

It depends on the night, but it is usually a higher ABV ale. Tonight, Bell's Expedition Stout.

I suggest nutmeg, Valerian root, warm milk...and if you need booze, a little rum splashed in. But not too often.

If a bottle spot has a mix sixer option I grab six night caps- mostly stouts maybe a barley wine /
    -ten fidy
    -fresh yeti
    -storm king

You kno, the usual suspects - dark and tasty - available all year/
I can go on with great night caps
    -boulevard dark truth
    -Uinta BarleyWine
    -Allagash black
    -Evil Twin Yin

The main event is usually before the nightcap (obviously) but..
Hmmm sometimes the nightcap is the main event -
    -Lost Abbey angels share
    -Prairie Bomb
    -Older viscosity
    -De Molen Hel &Verdomenis
    -BCBS variants /

Anyhow IMO nightcap should be a small bottle

My nightcap beer is whatever I have. I usually drink a couple of them before bed. I like to drink them while watching tv in bed.

If its cold out a nice stout, or old ale hits the spot. Rasputin, Adam, old stock, bcbs. On the warmer days I like something lighter and hoppy but still a decent abv to help my eye lids shut, sucks, double jack, simtra if I can get it, ruination.

A big, sweeter imperial stout, maybe with chocolate.

    Usually Chocolate Rain.
