Plans cancelled so I'm drinking my first ever FIS... welp, legendary. No?

Also warming myself up for the 50mph gusts of wind, 4" of snow, and below zero temperatures. Sigh.

Happy 79th Anniversary to the beer can. You've come a long way since your humble beginning.

Hopslam.. I don't care if I sound like a douchebag, but this isn't the Hopslam I've been in love with and hyped up over the past 5 years.. Hopslam is notorious of its aromatics and making an entire room stink of hops and this has no aromatics at all.. it doesn't taste the same either.. I'm shocked and disappointed.. I know people make threads claiming this every year and I always shook my head, but this year I feel letdown by this beer for the first time.. this isn't Hopslam.. :slight_frown:

You don't sound like a douchebag. Have they always made it with HONEY. What kind of DIPA is made with honey? Defeats the whole purpose of it being bitter and dry.

Cigar City Brewing White Oak Jai Alai, very oak forward and sweet, but the hops get lost in it.

My brother felt the same way. Personally I find it balanced this year with a sweetness from the honey, followed by a hop bite on the end. It's very easy drinking and dangerous too. Palates change, beers vary from year to year sometimes. Part of what makes this journey fun!

I'm glad that I don't have to worry about it. I have never been a fan of HOP FORWARD brews. And I doubt that my palate will ever like the bitterness of aspirin. They need to have a variety of hops that have all that awesome smell and flavor without any bitterness. Kind of like that new pepper that tastes just like jalapenos, but without any "heat".
