Gads I was so looking forward to this, but it's a borderline drain pour. Do not like!!! Won't be a repeat customer, it sucks living and learning, doesn't live up to the title (for my tastes anyways).

Oh man that was awesome. Brings me way, way back. Dude has a little too much rhythm; modern kids don't respect their roots. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Umm, to make this about beer...I'm still drinking Resin, if anyone cares.) :sunglasses:

Yeah, I don't know. I'm slightly disappointed, but we're supposed to get some next week. I haven't been able to ski b/c its been too warm lately. Peeved.

Agreed. One of the best things I have ever had. I didn't drink the silver one yet, but i did the copper. Still, would be willing to drink only this for the rest of time... Except that I wouldn't get to try the NEXT awesome beer. Whatever it may be… I know there's another lurking.

They've always brewed it with honey and it doesn't defeat the purpose at all. The honey adds more fermentables which drives the gravity lower and thus a drier beer, it's possible if everything is dialed in correctly and with the right yeast strain. I've gotten a touch of honey in past batches of Hop Slam but not enough to make me say "*blech*" and want to drain pour it. (Will hopefully be trying this year's batch tomorrow for the first time.) Most honey brewed beers won't add a lot of sweetness (if any) and will knock some of the bitter edge off hops while boosting the ABV - it all depends on the alpha acids of the hops, especially the bittering hops early in the boil, higher alpha will yield more bitterness.

Bell's has done it right over the years and I remember walking out of my local distributor with multiple cases at one time of this stuff years ago before it started to gain momentum with us hop heads, now it's limited to one case/person. Glad my wife enjoys IPA's like this one and she's always happy to mule a case for me while standing in line in front of me and we do separate transactions. When my boys turn (21) that means I get a promotion to "Pimp Daddy"!:stuck_out_tongue:

    Cheers all

I've had pneumonia and endured frozen pipes twice and a pre-vacation diet but tonight I cheated. Started with super fresh hopslam then some 004 4 sucks, then much to my delight some Hop Hedge here in ohio. First night it's here. Bought 4 bottles of it. Finishing off with some zombie dust brewed on 12/26/13. Glad to be back and here!

"pretty good" is the new "meh"

(Get your butt over to my house to try it on tap instead...it loses too much carbonation during transport. Need a Blichman BeerGun to resolve the problem.)

    :stuck_out_tongue: (J/K!)

This particular version you haven't tried yet, it's the big brother to the one I sent you - very similar in taste but an upped ABV ante.
