    Review revisit day tonight:

    Breaking in the Shorts Mixer pack, really nice stuff. Milk chocolate/cocoa/roasted malt/light coffee/toast/wheat with a light-moderate herbal hop presence with some light bitterness.

    Batch 1 Samael's, 2005. This was awesome. Huge layered complexity with zero booze or cloying sweetness. huge raisin, fig, plum, prune, apple, pear, molasses, brown sugar, brown bread, caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, light clove, toast, chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness. I enjoyed this for well over an hour.

    Really damn good, but not nearly as funky or sour as I was expecting(and I cellared it for 2 years). Strawberry, tart cherry, green apple, orange zest, raisin, caramel, toast, nutmeg, clove, oak, pepper, hay, grass, light funk, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nicely balanced overall and very enjoyable. I will have to go buy more for sure and hope to get a funkier batch, but I had no complaints for a Belgian style in general.

    Belgian stouts are few and far between. Great stuff. Big dark chocolate/cocoa/coffee/roast/char with raisin/plum and light clove/pepper yeast spices. Very creamy and slick mouthfeel. This totally leans on an IS style over the Belgian counterparts, but it is very complimenting

    Since I ended up driving the car pool for a school event, this first beer is happening about nine hours later than I planned, but it is finally time for my first HopSlam of the year.

    Randall Jr. that thing with some toasted coconut and swirl a 1/4 shot of bourbon in your glass! So awesome!!!
