I don't think Pyramid can really be considered a micro/nanobrewery. I'm not even sure many people consider them to be craft - they are part of a huge conglomerate that is #6 in the US in sales volume (http://www.nabreweries.com/http://www.nabreweries.com/).

You are correct sir. I am tired and did not read the thread title of microbreweries.

I'd swim in Saint Archer rather than drink most the toilet hooch by the breweries in this thread.

If the same exact beer produced by St. Archer were made by more "conventional" brewers, I bet it would taste better to a lot of people.

I had my doubts before they opened, but they started out brewing solid beer and adding Yiga to the mix stepped it up another notch. It's fair to be turned off by their marketing, but they're producing good beer.

Agreed. The beer isn't bad in any way. It's nothing mind-blowing, but they're producing solid beers and a good price.

Their blonde is a good pizza beer, especially when you have significant others that aren't that big on the hop explosion.

Except with a superior, more pronounced, and dominant coffee profile.

It's been a long time since I came across a new brewery where I thought they were just incompetant. But what I do see very often is inconsistency: a place might have one or two good beers, but for some reason they also have ten other varieties on tap that are all embarrassingly flawed. Or their beers vary so much from visit to visit that I wonder whether I ordered the same thing.

Pacific Plate makes some of the worst IPAs I've ever tasted. The bittering in them is really harsh and nasty. Everything else they make is mediocre at best.

This. I agree with this a lot. It's not bad, by any means, but it's incredibly underwhelming and uninspired, particularly when compared to the hype.

    Denver Beer Co.

Terrible management and service. These guys are definitely out to make money, more so than the quality they treat their guests and employees. Although, some of their employees are incredibly lazy and have no sense of urgency. Their head brewer Jason from Oskar Blue's is hands down an awesome guy and a great person all around. He makes great beer and is truly a genuine person who will actually sit and chat with you for a while about whatever may be on your mind. DBC has beef with other breweries in Denver such as Ratio Beerworks, Declaration Brewing, Platte Park Brewing and Prost Brewing (whom are all countless times better than DBC), for reasons to solely increase their own business's profit margins. They spent $1,000 buying countless German beer names so Prost couldn't have rights to them. That would be totally weird in a German brewery, right? Platte Park was originally called, Denver Pearl Brewing, but had to change it to Platte Park because the owners went and bitched to a larger brewery, *cough* Pabst, to take legal action against them for using the word Denver in their company's name. Declaration backed up Platte Park on this matter and now loathes DBC as well. As for Ratio Beerworks, long story short, DBC's previous event coordinator is married to one of Ratio's owners and decided to put her two weeks in with DBC to help her husband's business grow. Patrick, Charlie and Casey (owners and taproom manager at Denver Beer Co.) decided they didn't like that idea, so they scolded her for her decision which made her immediately quit without completing her two weeks.

I say all of this because I was a previous employee with Denver Beer Co. They seemed like a great brewery upfront, but once getting into the behind the scenes of their company, you soon realize how poorly the place is ran and how under-appreciated the taproom employees are treated. The only reason this place has any recognition is because it's the first brewery that pops up when you search, "Breweries in Denver". If it weren't for the word Denver being placed in their title, they really wouldn't have much foot traffic, except for the close residents in the neighborhood. This way, when it snows, they don't really have to drive/walk very far so they choose somewhere convenient. Most of the beers that Jason brews are AWESOME, but their flagship stuff like their Princess Yum Yum, Sundrenched, Incredible Pedal, and Graham Cracker Porter are nothing to write home about. At all. Mainly because the owners Charlie and Patrick, who come from old money, brewed the recipes their selves and were really in no place to be brewing from the start. Their reasoning, they "love beer."

Yea, I love beer too. Doesn't mean I brew awesome beer though. Please at least get a new taproom manager, because that guy has a bad reputation all over the city and is easily effecting your business.

Boring bordering on the mediocre: Anaheim Brewery and Old Orange Brewing Company.

Mediocre bordering on the awful: Beach City Brewery.

Some beers taste great to others while some beers are awful. I happen to like the beers I have tried from Brew Rebellion, but at RR only have two beers I would buy again. Each place usually has one beer that almost everyone will like while the rest are personal preferences. I like to try all places even if they get a bad review, you can't knock it until you try it.
