Coconut Porters/Stouts?

My favorite FW brew.

 

Easily the best coconut beer I've had.

After tasting the dissapointment that was the Stone coconut IPA, I wished Wormtown would give the Coconut IPA a try given how much they nailed big coconut flavor in Norm and their ability to brew an excellent IPA.

 

I get a coconut flavor from most Bourbon Barrel aged Stouts

 

Perennial's Fantastic Voyage is a milk stout brewed with coconut


Ballast Point's Indra Kunindra used coconut in conjunction with cayenne, cumin, curry and lime


The collaborative Tropical Tripel also featured coconut, with peaches and oak chips


Stone had their R&R Coconut IPA, too, but that's probably gone now (it didn't seem that well-received in any event)

 

Live near Chicago, and yes Proprietor's BCBS is the best coconut beer I have ever had. Probably best beer I've ever had.

It was a rumor I heard.

 

Maui CoConut porter is very nice, but it paled in comparison to Hodad porter made by Fiddlehead Brewery in Shelburne,VT which has hand toasted coconut, and infused with fresh vanilla beans, and cacao nibs. Hopefully Fiddlehead will be putting Hodad porter in cans in 2014.

 

NoDa Brewing in Charlotte has an awesome coconut porter called Coco Loco. Draft/growler only for now, but soon will be canned and sold around Charlotte. Expect Raleigh, Chapel Hill, & Greensboro/WS to stock it as well like they do Hop Drop n Roll IPA.

Coco Loco is a robust Porter with a subtle, not overpowering coconut flavor.

 

Not all of these are stouts or porters but the beers I experienced the most coconut flavors from would include BA Naked Evil,Sweet Repute,Fantastic Voyage,NODA's Imperial Coco Loco and FW XVII.

 

Momi Hiwa is the best coconut beer ever. No contest.

 

how odd, I just stumbled across that one and was reading some reviews of it...now the question is...HOW CAN I GET ONE?!

It's a tough find. The only time I got to try it was at Rare Beer at GABF this year. Holy crap is that a coconut beer. 17 pounds of toasted coconut per barrel.

 

I just remembered I have a Momi Hiwa from Avery. I probably need to drink this before the coconut fades. Not really excited about this as I'm not a big coconut fan
