BA/Beer Friendships

I haven't met any BA's in person because of this site. I have had experiences going the opposite direction. Knowing people in real life and seeing their posts on BA lol!

 

I would consider myself friends with quite a few of you guys. I went to Purdue with a few. I've seen the Chicago crowd at every release. Ive worked with a few. I would say that if you have a regular trading partner, odds are that youll be friends. There are a lot of favors done and a lot of value being exchanged. Its awesome how out of the way some people go to chase down bottles.

 

It sucks that I have yet to met a BA and even if that said person was into metal just like me. I can make all the offers of free beer, but even sometimes people are anti social. I think in NJ people are sick of other people so I know this doesn't help the situation.

Someday maybe... It will help when my wife and I move from our apartment and into a house then I can have tastings and such.

 

What kind of metal? I've been getting into pagan/folk stuff as of late.

 

Unfortunately my unbearable body odor, uncontrollable perspiration, perpetual flatulence, and other medical conditions preclude my engagement in social interaction unless absolutely necessary. Many of you seem very nice though.

 

I agree with you. Ive met plenty of BA's in person and am glad to call them friends.

I started off knowing a bunch of BAs thanks to hayesez and his beer geek breeding factory at my college , but through going to multiple release parties since I started my job, I've met so many awesome new friends! And I should also throw out a shout out to my excellent trading partners who I've yet to meet in person (but soon enough, I will!). Cheers to the BA community!

He doesn't post often anymore, but he still chimes in every once in a while. I know he's still a pretty active trader as well.

Initially I met a lot of good people not really through BA, but just through the boston beer scene. So sorta tangentially through BA. Which is great, and led to some lasting friendships.

Even better- recently, I have met some people directly through BA, and that's looking to head in the same direction. Unless any of them criticize my BBQ this weekend. Or are Chelsea fans.

That whole bit about beer being a great social beverage is entirely accurate, wether the context is BA, your local bar, a neighborhood cookout, whatever.

I've met someone via an IP and another here in town thru BA. Most of the people I've dealt with thru trades seem like the people whom I'd share a glass with also. And the people I've met at local shops occassionally stop in on BA as well. I'd definitely say BA has improved my people experience as well as expanded my beer experience exponentially. As I have explained to my wife, I am a middle aged man, I don't make new friends. I will interact with the other males in whatever social event I am placed in. I will be polite and feign interest in their banal chatter. At best they might move up to being acquantiances. My friends are John, Jason and Joe. I don't care to add another.

Seriously, I have chatted with some nice people here. We all share a common interest-beer. I an sure I could be friendly withb many of you. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to go to events and meet othe Beer Heads.

However, if I did come across a fellow BA while out, I would certainly buy you a beer.

I've met quite a few, BAs arepretty well represented in the SF bay area and have a good regular tasting group so I count several people on here as good friends, even if we're not drunk. It's always cool to have a beer with a new aquaintance.
